This has been a team in transition all year. Early on, this was Washington's team. Then it became Brown's team. Now it is transitioning into Lee's team. Therefore you can't really project what next season will be based on this year.

RE: FAU Shwartz thread
What is that abstract concept of "learning how to win"? Some teams have and some teams haven't. Whatever it is, one can see the result in such close games like those cited above. Teams that respond in such close games by making plays - thereby scoring the needed points in those close games - have the winning records in them and those who don't have less success.

Is there an opposite concept of "learning how to lose" (in those close games)?

I'm going to blame it on youth. We are still developing as a defensive team. All 5 of those loses could have been flipped with a couple more stops.

We've seen very little of that.

What I've seen too much of is Brown slipping/sliding, loosing control of his body and the ball when he has someone guarding him. He seems to try to lean into pressure as he dribbles and more times than not seems to fail to get the blocking call on his defender and winds up loosing the ball. If he could improve this aspect of his game he would be a much more effective cog in the machine.

This worries for me next year as well. I don't have a lot of faith that we will suddenly correct the issues that have led to us consistently losing to terrible teams and dropping lots of games on the road. I didn't think we had a particular problem in close games prior to this year, but the 0-5 in really close games is disturbing too.

Come on guys this is a very very very young team and they are playing well.
Anytime you have a chance to win on the road you are playing well, Our guys missed shots, didn't get to the line, didn't dribble to the cup etc...
Yet they still had a chance to win, whether they should have are could have is a matter of defense, defense defense...
Win the next 4 and all will be forgiven..

That's very accurate.

I think we'll be ready for this game tomorrow. I imagine these kids got an earful after that loss. I expect Norton and Brown to step it up on the scoreboard.

Yep. That's not really a trend in my opinion either, it is the sign of a young team. There can't be many teams that play a rotation so heavy on underclassmen in the country. We had 2 years of d1 experience out of brown, and one from Washington, Madison, watts, Baxter, and Mehinti coming into the year. Everybody just needs to take a step away from the ledge. Last year we were complaining about being run off the court by crap teams. This year, we are just about there. Next year, hopefully we continue to improve and get better at closing games out. We have one nice piece coming in already. If we get a couple more of the right guys, we are going to be in great shape.

Couldn't agree more,excellent observation .
Yep. Washington needs to restrict his shots to low post off of the glass, where he can either score or be awarded two foul shots, and let the more proficient outside shooters do their job. I cringe when he shoots a long shot or a five to ten footer.

Washington hasn't taken a three point shot in about five or six games.

Yes, thank goodness, but he still tends to to toss up a five to ten footer in the lane and that is a low percentage shot for anyone...

Washington hasn't taken a three point shot in about five or six games.
