And the NBAPA is fighting against it for the same reason. We went from all senior drafts in 1990 to 4 seniors in the first round in 2000. If you cannot see how that changes things, there is no point in continuing this. You are just being bulllheaded at that point. Further, as much as you seem to disagree, you actually offer no proof to your point, other than saying it doesn't prove anything, which is not true to anyone in power. It is the reason he NBA is fighting so hard to increase the limit, and the reason he NBAPA is against it (or at least against it for free).

The spike had absolutely nothing to do with the younger drafts. There weren't younger guys getting drafted from 1990-94, yet the number of older guys totally spiked.
From your data:
1990 27.2 4.783 87 32 9
1995 27.8 6.051 102 36 13

From the 1990 to 1994 drafts which had exactly 2 freshmen and 5 sophomores taken. YOUNGER guys were not getting drafted. They just were not.
The NBAPA is fighting it because the agents of the players want to get their hands on the younger guys. Also, nepotism quite frankly- they want the system to be set where their sons can enter the league ASAP.

IMO the biggest reason more international players are drafted is that the NBA now has a rule that a team retains the rights to its international draftees even if they stay in Europe for a few years. Drafting an international player now has multiple benefits: When he comes to the NBA, he's more experienced; if he stays in Europe for a couple of years, you don't have to pay him/squeeze him under the salary cap right away; it's a way to draft for the future and let the player develop in Europe, letting the NBA club decide at a later date whether to bring the player over here.

Which would be a good idea for dealing with the high school and underclassmen. Eliminate declaring and just draft them and retain rights if you don't reach a deal.

This Only hurts the older More established Players and bargaining powers. Truth is, I don't even watch the NBA anymore as it's just become a big corporate conglomeration.

If you look at the numbers that was posted in this thread it actually helps the older players stay in the league longer since HS players flame out...also, truth be told the NBA is a Much Better Game to watch right now then College Basketball...the Association Brand of play hasn't been better IMO.

I used to hate the NBA but I watch far more NBA than college now.

I've gone the other way. I hated it when the NBA stopped calling the overhand dribbling rule and I really quit following it when they added an additional foul for each player prior to them being ejected from the game.

I can get the Grizzles, Thunder, and Mavericks with Direct's sports package so I end up watching a lot of games plus it's only a 2 hour drive to Memphis. My friends in NE Arkansas are all Grizz fans and my friends in west Arkansas are Thunder fans. I'm Grizz first and if it's not bad for the Grizz I root for the Thunder.

What won me over was at a Grizz game and a Suns defender bit on a fake the crowd in end zone leapt to their feet and Gasol (Pau) slammed it. After a minute or two it dawned on me that a college crowd wouldn't have done that until the slam. In college the defender might recover but in the NBA? Not a chance.

It's the only one of the pro sports my primary team is in market so that helps but I buy the MLS, NHL and MLB online packages so it's nice to have one I don't have to pay for.

You stopped following the NBA in 1947?

I just recently switched to UVerse, and I bought the NBA package since it was only $99 for the second half of the year. But it turns out they give us several RSN's that cable didn't, and I now get all Cleveland, Memphis, and Pacers games, in addition to the games on NBA TV and the national games, plus occasional Bulls games on WGN. That is a lot of games to get with my regular package. I may not need the NBA package next year.

BTW I cannot say enough good things about UVerse. I have had it for only a month, but it might actually be better than DirectTV. For one, they don't blackout out of market games on neighboring RSN's like DirecTV does. And the app is awesome (I can watch live TV on my phone on nearly any channel by just tuning the guide, and I can set my DVR). Granted the no Sunday Ticket is a big bummer, but with Redzone I doubt I would still order Sunday Ticket anyway.

Still waiting for UVerse to be available in my part of Town since my Condo Association really doesn't allow DirecTV-( and no clear site line for the Dish but I am eligible to get The Sunday Ticket online since I am in a No DirecTV Zone)....Time Warner = Way Too Expensive...05-mafia

I was on Comcast, moved to Dish, moved to UVerse and was super happy until I got an HDTV and at the time they were downscaling HD to 720p but the last straw was I had three boxes die in about 8 months and went to Direct and added an antenna to deal with rain fade since the most critical time to have local channels is during a tornado warning.

If UVerse will add in the local OTA subchannels as Comcast has I'd seriously consider returning to UVerse. Even with just internet and voice (if you've ever called 911 from a cell, you understand why I keep a home line, had a real fiasco when my wife had a health emergency) they are pretty reasonable.

RE: OT: NBA Players Association basically wants to get rid of Age Limit
I use an OTA antenna that I bought for $20 and I get all of the over the air channels in HD. I sometimes have to use it, when I have three things recording (the box allows 4 tuners, but only three in HD) and want to watch something else on TV. Happens a lot on Mondays and Thursdays if there is a ballgame I want to watch and things on TV I watch all come on at the same time.

I pay $110 per month for the top speed internet, the sports package, and HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, and Encore. Though I think a couple of those movie channels might be promotional offers. I really didn't necessarily want "everything," but I was looking at about $80 per month for what I wanted, and to me $30 more to get "everything" just seemed like a good deal to me.
