Tulsa fans
I was unable to watch the game live tonight, and just finished watching it on DVR. I thought it was a very exciting game. The crowd was great and there was a stretch in the 2nd half where it really felt like a tournament game. Both teams were laying it all out on the line -- diving for loose balls, trading 3-pointers, playing physical basketball.

A lot of you probably wanted to punch me for comments made in the "Tulsa" thread. I don't blame you, but please understand these comments were made in jest. And I'm not just saying that because we won the game -- I would be here taking my medicine if the results were reversed. I did have a hunch about this game though -- in watching our young, inconsistent team's ebb and flow through the season, I felt I was finally getting a read on what makes this squad tick. As such, I was probably just a bit too cocky while enjoying some smack talk. For me, it was all in good fun, and I suspect you guys were of the same mindset.

I know it sucks to be in your shoes right now after all the trash we talked, but I don't think it will be long before Tulsa gets the best of us again. Nothing but respect here. Now that you've run the gauntlet and survived with a shot at the conference title, I think it is apropos to say welcome to the AAC -- we are glad to have you aboard. 04-cheers

RE: Tulsa fans
There are some Bearcat fans who have been thumbing their nose at Tulsa, and questioning how big of a game this was. I don't think you could convince anyone either playing or watching the game that it wasn't big. As 'Shizzle points out, it was an intense, hard-played game on the part of both teams. We were just a tad better tonight.

We, all but, locked a tourney bid last night, and this is considered a high quality win for us. I would consider this a big win and a big game.

Best wishes from here Tulsa 04-bow

Gotta say it sucked to watch our team play poorly but some of that was the domination underneath. I will give it up to Cincy, they played very well at times and they did deserve the win. Congrats. This conference could be pretty special in BBALL.

RE: Tulsa fans
I am not trying to throw water on all this good feeling, but I doubt that Cincinnati and Tulsa will ever have much of a rivalry. UC has been playing Tulsa since back in the late 50's in the Oscar Robertson days, and I have never felt there has been a rivalry of any type with Tulsa. Historically, when Tulsa would gain a rare win, it was an upset. Cincinnati is supposed to beat Tulsa in basketball, no if's, and's or doubts about it. Cincy's rivals in this league will be UConn, Memphis and Temple, likely in that order. But that pales with our past skirmishes with Louisville, Marquette, WVU, Syracuse, Georgetown, Villanova, Notre Dame, Pitt, et al., which is why the AAC is like trading in your Mercedes S Class for a C Class and saying , "Well, it is still a Mercedes".

RE: Tulsa fans
Times change.

Am I going to measure the way that I feel about this league by the years that I saw the Coogs win SWC Championships and our QB win a Heisman?

What would be the point of that? I could easily sit and my computer and deride the Bearcat program for not providing the competition that Texas and Texas A&M used to provide us.

But, seriously, who gives a ****?

To be open about it, I don't even give a ****.

So, the attitude of some Cinci fans is funny to me. If you want me to feel its some kind of honor to play you, you're out of step with reality.

You can build something. Or you can b!tch. If you choose option two, you'll have just as much tomorrow as you have today.

Really? I mean, at least in the short-term, no one will argue that the AAC isn't a downgrade from the old Big East. But there's also no reason to believe that the league can't and won't improve. We can still compete for basketball championships in the AAC. As for football, that's a different story... but I blame that on the P5 cartel more than anyone in our league.

As for Tulsa, sure, they're no Syracuse or Louisville. But they have had some success in the past, have a well-known coach who should recruit at a high level, and have a loyal fan base. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I won't lie and say I don't agree with some of it. But this isn't the time nor place for it.

Also, don't forget that programs rise and fall. We were pretty bad during the Ed Badger/Tony Yates years. It can happen again, and there's no reason that Tulsa can't sustain their current success and become a perennial top 25 program. I would hate to see our fans talk all this trash and wind up with egg on our faces if the program ever tanks again.

On another note - I don't know anything about the city of Tulsa but those shots of the downtown area on CBS looked really good.

RE: Tulsa fans
I like Cinci... but to piss and moan to the schools that were INVITED (under the pretenses of playing Notre Dame, Louisville, etc.)... is dumb as ****.

Those schools were recruited. Not the other way around. So, to sit there and talk **** about the programs that are trying to bail out the boat that UC invited them to board, is utterly obtuse.

If anything, Cinci fans should be heaping praise on Tulsa for stepping up to increase the conferences chances at more bids. Their success impacts all of us. That's how conferences are built and sustained.

If you don't want to be a fan, then just don't be a fan. It's that simple.

Downtown Tulsa has really come alive again the last several years. Multiple entertainment districts, more new bars and restaurants than I can keep up with. Tons of artsy events and two other old school historic music venues. Private investment really paying off along with the BOK Center and a top notch AA stadium. It's also just really easy to get around, find parking, walk or hop on a trolley, etc.

The revival has been fantastic to go along with our other long-time popular entertainment districts outside of downtown.

Its a good series.

If you win and stay relevant fans on both sides consider it a rivalry.

If we suck no one cares about playing us.

Panic, the only thing "left behind" last night was Tulsa's NCAA hopes.

why rip on Tulsa? They were very game last night. The arena looked nice. They have zero seniors so the teams all comes back. I think they have a good coach.
