Look at the DI talent that has come out of Memphis in the past decade. And the city is continuing to produce DI talent.

Not many relevant DI programs are in a metro area that produces Austin Nichols, Jarnell Stokes, Tarik Black, JW3, Joe Jackson, Skal, Lawsons, etc.

Las Vegas certainly produces nowhere near that level of talent.

I have to disagree with the "Memphis as a hot bed of bb talent" statement to some extent. Not many of this pool of talent go on to great professional careers and a lot of the talent in the pool is overrated. How many did Cal recruit?

NBA talent is not the only predictor of NCAA success, my friend.

How many NBA players were on Wichita State or VCU or Wisconsin or Louisville, etc.?

Fact is - look at the numbers averaged in DI and you see that Memphis produces a lot of DI talent.

I think you are arguing/debating something entirely different than I am.

Well, I agree with you that Memphis does produce a lot of D1 talent. My argument is that times have changed since we only had to recruit Memphis (or close by) kids to produce an "elite" team. I think if you look at the top teams the players are nationally recruited.

Well, yeah, but that's not the discussion - being elite or not - it was what DI programs do with compare with?

I was only saying we're a hard comparison because of several unique factors.

However, I will argue that if you wanted to put Skal and Nichols and the Lawsons all on the floor next year with Markel and Cam Payne, you'd probably be close to "elite" on paper.

Cam Payne is really good.. That team if it would have happened would have won a lot with or without a Coach!!
