10 year career? Not bad. Scrap iron turned into gold.

140 games is really impressive. And he still could get picked up by someone, he had 8 sacks last year.

Andy Reid seemed to really like Bearcats... Chip Kelly is another matter. Conventional Wisdom says that Kelly is going to go after Mariotta and a number of other former Ducks in an attempt to "go Oregon" in Philly.

I wonder if Celek is next,if so I would love the Bengals to add him to replace stonehands Gresham!

He will get picked up by someone. Hard to fault Philly on letting him go, that is a lot of cap space for a player who is likely nearing the end of his career.

Bengals should look at both. Had zero pass rush last year and celek would be an upgrade over gresham

Well done Mr. Cole.

He's still got 2-3 years productive years left in the league. He'll get picked up sooner than alter.

Yep. It was guaranteed that Cole was going to get cut, as his base salary was set to double. He and his agent knew this was going to happen when he signed the contract.

Is there any reason he won't sign somewhere else this offseason? It seems like the Eagles are set on creating a lot of cap space and this was a move necessary to do so (along with trading McCoy and releasing a few others).

The Colts are no stranger to bold moves in free agency (a few of which have worked), and this year is no different.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Colts are signing former Eagles pass-rusher Trent Cole.

That would fall right in line with their reported pursuit of other aging stars, although there are some curious elements to it.

Cole was happy to get out of Philadelphia because he wasn’t as comfortable rushing the passer as a stand-up outside linebacker. But the Colts aren’t anything resembling a 4-3 base defense, which means they’ll either adjust or Cole will.

It’s also another former Eagles player for Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson, who has also brought in former Eagles guard Todd Herremans.

RE: Trent Cole released by the Eagles
The general consternation on letting Cole go with nothing in return is pretty great across the media... The general consensus seems to be that Kelly really missed out in not trading Cole, whom many noted is still a "high level" player. It's gratifying that the media guys weren't at all quick to write Cole's career as being "done."
