Palestinian jailed for murder of Israeli teenagers
Naftali Frenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach disappeared while hitchhiking home
Quote:An Israeli military court has sentenced a Palestinian man to three life terms for the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank.
Hussam Qawasmeh, a member of Hamas, must also pay $63,000 (£41,000) in compensation to the victims' families.
Two other suspects were shot dead by Israeli forces in Hebron in September.
The teenagers' murders in June set off an escalating cycle of violence and led to a 50-day conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza.
The leader of Hamas, the Islamist group dominant in Gaza, said in an interview in August that a Hamas cell had killed the teenagers but had not acted on instructions from above.
'Cold-blooded'
Naftali Frenkel and Gilad Shaar, both aged 16, and 19-year-old Eyal Yifrach went missing at a road junction between Jerusalem and Hebron as they hitchhiked home on 12 June.
Their bodies were found almost three weeks later in a nearby valley.
The Israeli authorities launched a crackdown on Hamas in the West Bank following the abduction and quickly identified two of the group's operatives, Marwan Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisha, as suspects. They managed to evade capture for several months before being killed.
Hamas is the fine group that Mach admires so much.
Quote:JERUSALEM (CBSNewYork/AP) — A senior Hamas leader has said the group carried out the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teens in the West Bank in June — the first time anyone from the Islamic militant group has said it was behind an attack that helped spark the current war in the Gaza Strip.
One of the teens, 16-year-old Naftali Frankel, was an American citizen whose family is originally from Brooklyn.
Saleh Arouri told a conference in Turkey on Wednesday that Hamas’s military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, carried out what he described as a “heroic operation” with the broader goal of sparking a new Palestinian uprising.
“It was an operation by your brothers from the al-Qassam Brigades,” he said, saying Hamas hoped to exchange the youths for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Hamas has repeatedly praised the kidnappings, but Arouri, the group’s exiled West Bank leader, is the first member to claim responsibility. Israel has accused Hamas of orchestrating the kidnappings and identified two operatives as the chief suspects. The two men remain on the loose.
Arouri’s admission shows “Hamas has no qualms whatsoever about targeting innocent civilians,” said Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev.
The kidnappings of the three teens while they were hitchhiking June 12, along with the discovery of their bodies two weeks later, sparked a broad Israeli crackdown on Hamas members throughout the West Bank. Hamas responded with heavy rocket fire out of the Gaza Strip, leading Israel to launch an aerial and ground invasion of the territory.
More than 2,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in the fighting, according to Palestinian and U.N. officials, while 67 Israelis have also been killed, all but three of them soldiers. An Egyptian effort to mediate a cease-fire collapsed this week, leading to a resumption of heavy fighting.
Arouri told the conference that Hamas “did not have the intention at this time to ignite a large battle.” He said his group did not believe Israel wanted a war either. “But Allah has chosen and willed that a large battle would be ignited,” he said.
Arouri is one of Hamas’ most senior figures. He founded Hamas’ military wing in the West Bank two decades ago and now commands the group’s operations in the area from exile in Turkey. He was deported several years ago in a deal that freed him from Israeli prison.
Earlier this week, Israel identified Arouri as the mastermind of an alleged plot to launch an uprising in the West Bank aimed at toppling Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Gilad Shaar, 16, and Eyal Yifrach, 19, were also abducted and killed. The three teens were all Jewish seminary students.

Muslim Terrorist Kills American Baby And Hospitalizes Several Other People
Quote:Today, a Palestinian terrorist rammed his car into a crowd of people near a light rail station in a Jerusalem neighborhood. He killed a three-month-old American infant and injured several other people.
In a statement released by police spokeswoman Luba Samri stated, “A private car hit passengers from the light rail near the police national headquarters. The car’s driver attempted to escape and was shot, apparently by a police officer from the Jerusalem district.” The man was ultimately killed by police as he tried to flee the scene afterwards on foot.

4 worshipers killed in Jerusalem synagogue by Palestinian terrorists...
Quote:Jerusalem (CNN)A Jerusalem synagogue turned from peaceful sanctuary to house of horrors within moments Tuesday when two Palestinian cousins wielding a gun and butcher knives attacked during morning prayers -- a terror attack that Israel's leader characterized as "blood libel" fanned by Palestinian leaders.
Even as Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said he was "glad" but insisted it "is not enough."
Addressing reporters Tuesday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for national unity against "those human animals who committed this massacre" and against those -- singling out Hamas, the Islamic movement and the Palestinian Authority -- who he claims "disseminate libels against the state of Israel."
"There are those who wish to uproot us from the capital, from our land," he said, referring to Jerusalem. "They will not be successful... We have to unify forces."
Netanyahu spoke hours after the latest act of violence to afflict the region, this time at a synagogue in West Jerusalem's Har Nof area.
Experts: No third intifada yet -- but little hope, either
Photos taken inside the Jewish house of worship, and released by Israeli officials, painted a grim scene -- from lifeless bodies sprawled on a floor to a shattered pair of glasses to blood seemingly everywhere, drenching holy books, prayer shawls and walls.
Three dual U.S.-Israeli citizens and a British-Israeli citizen died in the attack before police shot and killed the two assailants.
The terror attack -- the deadliest in Jerusalem since a man with an automatic weapon killed eight seminary students in March 2008 -- came at a particularly tense time in that city and the region at large. It follows a series of recent deadly stabbings and vehicle incidents that, while not the large-scale suicide bombings that defined last decade's second intifada or the rocket attacks from Gaza earlier this year, have left Jerusalem on edge.
Netanyahu blasts 'incitement' by Palestinian leaders
The answer to what's next came quickly, as Israeli authorities moved into the slain attackers' East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber to demolish their homes on Netanyahu's order. The Palestinians' official WAFA news agency reported 13 people were arrested, including an al-Aqsa Mosque guard.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat -- whose city is about two-thirds Jewish and one-third Arab -- said the attack were incited by Hamas and terror organizations who use "rumor and misfacts" about Palestinians are treated in the city.

Palestinians Chose Hamas and the Mass-Murder of Civilians—Including Their Own
Just a little balance Mach,
Hamas did not suddenly become a terrorist organization after it was elected. Hamas was elected because it was a jihadist organization. It was elected because, by its own declaration, Hamas connects Palestinians to something they find attractive: the global Islamic-supremacist movement. Palestinians widely reject Israel’s right to exist. They regard not just Gaza, Judea and Samaria but all of Israel as “occupied Palestine.” Even those Palestinians who purport to accept the “two-state solution” see it as a way-station on the march to a one-state solution in which the Jewish state eventually ceases to be. Palestinians chose Hamas precisely because Hamas was seen as more dedicated than Fatah to the achievement of that goal-not to mention, more brutally competent. http://www.aim.org/guest-column/palestin...their-own/

I will never understand how you guys can't see both sides of an issue. Blood of innocents have been spilled by both sides. Why do you only condemn the Palestinians?

Pay attention ERC. I think all of your posts are a darn shame. A tragedy.
Now are you... ERC...... willing to say the same when Isrealis are to blame. Do you condemn the arson?
Israel punishes those that break the law. They don't honor them with plaques and awards. Your beloved Palestinians praise their murderers, Israel prosecutes theirs. Of course if the arson was a crime, those responsible should be punished.
How about it Mach, are you proud of the fact the Palestinians honored the family of the man that killed this beautiful baby? Who are the animals Mach? A shame you really don't know.

Do you have any links from a reputable source that claims what you say? I would like to read about these Palestinians. Of course it's a tragedy and the act of violence should be condemned.

Everyday over there Mach,

JERUSALEM — Mayor Nir Barkat earned plaudits Monday — and even won comparisons to a superhero — for his courage in helping to apprehend a man who stabbed and wounded an Israeli in the street.
Video footage showed Barkat, 55, and his bodyguard wrestling the attacker to the ground in Tzahal Square on Sunday, and then helping the victim, who was described as an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man in his 20s. The attack took place near the Old City, a major tourist destination.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Twitter that the suspect was arrested at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, he said.
The Times of Israel reported that the suspect is an 18-year-old Palestinian who was living in Israel illegally.
