And counting on him to contribute anything on the court at this point would be foolish. Even if he comes back healthy he has only played 12 games at the college level. He'll be coming off of multiple knee injuries and multiple years of inactivity. I hope he makes it back and can get some minutes though. That's a horrible situation.

Sports fan, is Kevin Gray on the team next year? Also, Sports fan you said Highsmith isn't playing next year. Could you explain this to the forum, many do not understand how he could be out another season.
First of all, my bad on Keith Gray. He did redshirt last year. Might have been wishful thinking to open up another spot for a big man.
As to Highsmith-when he reinjured his knee just before the start of the season there were some complications discovered. I do not know if they were related to the previous surgery or to the new injury itself but he has already had one procedure on the knee and a second is scheduled for April or May. They need for things to take hold after the first issue. Recovery time is not an exact but if you figure maybe nine months, that takes you to the start of February assuming an April 30th or May 1st surgery approximately. Monty has addressed this issue once or twice on the radio broadcasts and the question is do you bring him back for the final month of the conference season or do you get the benefit of a full year assuming the NCAA grants the 6th season. And, this situation is exactly the sort of thing the exemption was designed for. And, this came from Dontel himself. He is at every game and talks to any and everybody. He's a really great kid, super friendly. We talked before the EMU game and again before the CMU game. If all goes well there may be a decision that hass to be made about when to come back. He wants to play badly but I think he realizes taking the extra time will have him back at 100% in 16-17.
That is what I know.

Again, sorry about my confusion on the Grays.

It was December 31st, 2013 at Iowa State, I believe. It could be just about 2 years and 10 months assuming a November 2016 return.

If, he can't be back by December then you can't bring him back. It doesn't seem like a hard decision. Get him 3 full years of playing. So, they need to find a new Anthony Johnson that can play right away. Problem is you have no schollys. Please don't try and start: Baker, Orris, Armstead, Bowie and Maric. Subs: Porter, Pauga, Chuks, Bradley/key and the Grays subbing Maric.
