Who wouldn't you want to replace Coach Josh Wooden?
Everyone here talks about how they THINK Marshall would be happy to come to Memphis as well as Pearl, etc.
So who wouldn't you guys want to replace Josh?
Obviously, I love the guy and want him to stay and take us to the promised land, so this question isn't really for me.

I will say this. If we choose to move forward, it will be a PR disaster if it is perceived as a down grade, so I think a solid hire is a must.
I'd call:
- the list that says no: Shaka
- the list that listens and thinks about it: Marshall, Archie Miller, Buzz?
- the list that takes it: Pearl, the hot mid major can't miss (Valpo guy?), Damon S?
And then gauge interest. Move forward only if it's a clear upgrade. No half-stepping.

According to many people on here, ANYTHING would be perceived as an ungrade so no worries about that.

I disagree with that. Whatever shortcomings CJP has (I think we can agree somewhere between a few and many exist), he is not a complete failure.
Tic Price was less successful and there are tons of coaches who win at one stop and can't replicate it.
Nothing in life is promised. I think upgrading the HC position at UofM is possible, but not you can't be any geek off the street...

According to some on here, no one will say yes so the question is moot.

I think people are just frustrated. Our posters aren't usually idiotic. My clients sometimes are, but that is a horse of a different color...
and as long as their checks clear... I sign and take it...

RE: Who wouldn't you want to replace Coach Josh Wooden?
The list of coaches that I would not want to replace Coach Pastner would be incredibly long. That said, such a list would include (but not be limited to):
Anthony Grant
Andy Enfield
Steve Alford
Herb Sendek
Danny Manning
Buzz Williams
Derek Kellogg
Dana Altman
I'll cut it off there...as I said the complete list would be very lengthy.

I struggled with putting him on the list. Four years ago, I'd have taken him without a doubt. Today, I'm not so sure.

Hasn't Buzz won everywhere?
I'll bite RCM, is there a specific reason? Style of play? Potential to win at Memphis. Just asking as I am legit curious.
Agree on the rest of the list mostly BTW...

IMHO, Buzz would do wonders here. He wins with less (within reason) and he plays a style that the city would embrace - see Grizzlies. Memphis is a better situation than VT, he just landed there b/c he was ready to get away from Marquette.
He'd probably come, and he'd be a home run hire. IMO.

I knew putting Buzz on my NO list would raise a few eyebrows...that was expected. I guess I just think he's maxed out as a coach since that Elite 8 run with Marquette three years ago. Last season he finished 17-15 and was smart enough to get out while the getting was good. And I'm sure I'm reading way too much into the VaTech's season this year. The odd thing is I really, really like Buzz as a coach...I'm just not sure I'd like him more than Pastner.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification man

Joined 02-10-2015, roots for Pastner (not memphis), refers to him as "Josh Wooden," rehashes "who would you replace (or not replace)" discussion we've had umpteen times.

he's comparing him to John Wooden. There were other posters here a couple of years back who posted "he's our coach K."
Cult of personality, but in this case I think this guy is just a baiter getting his post count up.
