*AHEM* I am a liberal.

Let us be clear about something. Most of, if not all of, the Western world is based on a Christian set of laws. Islamic laws are obviously contradictory to a majority of the laws that we know and the practices we hold, but this does not make them any less valid to those who believe in them. Just saying, not everything is as black and white as we are sometimes led to believe. What we perceive as rational law and responses to some things may be inherently irrational to others, as we can see from our interaction with certain more radical sects of Islam.

If you're saying all cultures have equal value, you're wrong. Islam has often shown itself to be right out of the 7th century with stonings, honor killings, and massacres of little children.

I'm proud to say Judeo-Christian, Western culture is superior.

Again I must stress that your values of right and wrong or "equal value" are based upon the Judeo-Christian system. It is just as likely that followers of Islam view the world in the opposite way because of their inherent system. There is no other judge of who is right or wrong in this battle than God.

You should educate yourself on these matters. They don't view right and wrong much differently from Christians or Jews. The Islamic views on sexual morality, lying, cheating, stealing, etc, etc are all based on the same Abrahamic laws as ours.

Where there is a HUGE difference is the way in which they deal with sin, crime and outsiders. For Islam there is essentially no tolerance for sin or different viewpoints.

No they don't. They created this one and were pretty damn happy with it. What they don't like are the changes and denying their place in it and pushing them further and further out of it.

What exactly is their place in it?

"58% of Muslim-Americans believe criticism of Islam or Muhammad is not protected free speech under the First Amendment.
45% believe mockers of Islam should face criminal charges (38% said they should not)."

So? They aren't running around shooting people.

Because if they tried, they would get shot dead by a responsible gun owner and/or law enforcement.

No different than any other country.

Tell that to the Frogs.

Oh thousands WANT to, they just haven't reached the point of total Islamic consciousness.

"42% of young Muslims in France believe suicide bombings are justified (35% overall)." THAT....that is disturbing.

When it comes to this issue, so many folks choose to bury their heads in the sand. I cannot understand why.

It depends on how they asked the question, but if there was nothing wrong with that, I'd have to agree that it's disturbing. But Muslims have also been more marginalized in France than here, from what I've read.

EDIT: I should re-state that, if they think it's okay to kill innocent civilians, then it doesn't matter how the question was asked.

No, I'm the decider. And I decided decapitating 6 year old girls is evil.

These Muslims haven't changed any throughout history. Enough with the political correctness. They are exactly what they are. Once they step out of line, meet them where they are and kill them until they are tired of dying.

Let's dispense with a lot of the hyperbole and BS being thrown about by both sides....

This wasn't always the case, and while it is important to note this... It is even MORE important to note that Christians have long since turned away from the practice, while many Muslims have not. I don't mean just individual Muslims, but Muslims within the government of numerous nations. If they would turn away from this, MOST of our differences and issues would go away.

Here is where the argument about church and state being separate falls flat... because the question isn't whether they are the same.... but which one is supreme. Christians in America have long since come to the conclusion that while God's law is ultimately supreme, Man's law is enforced in the US. Sharia enforces God's law on earth. Those two things are incompatible with our system of inclusive government.

But there are millions of muslims living in the US who are fine with the laws, so the religion itself is not incompatible with our system of inclusive government. That there is, at a global level, a problem with democracy and islam doesn't mean that there is a problem with with every muslim.

And there are lots of Christians that would much prefer the government have more religion (aka Christian religion) in it. They'll live with it the way it is though, just like muslims do.

Where are we disagreeing? I'll admit that some on my side (often out of frustration) simply say 'they'... but as I said earlier, THEY must stop their brothers. THEY can't leave it to us to do so.

If you are a literalist, Christianity isn't either. Modern Christians have adapted... and arguably Jesus said to follow the law. Modern Muslims have too, and if the rest of them would, there would be no problem
