NASDAQ Milestone - Not Since 2000
Quote:NEW YORK, March 2 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks advanced on Monday, with the Nasdaq moving above the 5,000 mark for the first time in 15 years, helped by technology deals and mixed data that pointed to a slowly accelerating economy.

The Nasdaq composite index oscillated around the 5,000 milestone after hitting it in the morning for the first time since March 27, 2000, at the height of the dot.com bubble.

Don't worry...it's different this time. It always is.

Well My company stock has been pretty stagnant the last 5 years. Hopefully before I retire soon it will move upwards, as I now have a lot of shares I was buying while cost was down so any upward movement will be Much welcomed.

that's what I do. Buy my company's stock in the low 20s and then sell it when it get in the mid 30s in my 401k.

We got our yearly profit sharing announcement yesterday. We're getting a record 125% of our 5% target bonus (or 6.25%). We got 98% of the target bonus last year.

But those are the evil Wall Street rich bastards who reap those benefits.

I thought Obama was for the "common man."

Oh well, at least Wall Street is doing well.

The middle class, however......yeah......that whole median income thing....still lower than it was during the Bush years.

Compared to the Republicants? You bet he is! 03-wink

But thanks for reminding me of another thing Obama didn't get done...closing the income gap. Maybe he wasn't quite the wealth re-distributor your ilk claimed he was? Imagine that! 03-lol

Yet another area that could have been addressed with higher taxes on the top.

Oh, the Keynesian logic. Meaning absolutely no logical basis whatsoever.

Middle class suffering? Raise taxes! 07-coffee3

How would higher taxes have improved the income gap? By bringing the 'rich' down to to some arbitrary level? You well know that at a certain level of income, taxes don't effect you and that there is no political will to close any of the loopholes. Additionally, at what level of 'rich' would you like these new taxes implemented at?
