Still we need to win this week to continue the momentum.
Yeah. It is unfortunate. We should've beaten Rice IMO and Charlotte should've beaten La. Tech. However, I attribute it to the fact that LT has a lot of experience and UAB is young.
We should still feel pretty great about our team going forward. All of the top five CUSA teams are experienced teams...except for UAB. All are in the top half of most experienced teams in the country.
ODU has 6 juniors, 3 seniors
WKU has 3 juniors, 4 seniors
UTEP has 2 juniors, 4 seniors
La. Tech has 2 juniors, 3 seniors
Pretty crazy to think that we essentially only loses CJ Washington next year and he only has the 7th most minutes played.
ODU should still be pretty dang good as they keep both of their top scorers in Freeman and Bacote and have 6 juniors becoming seniors.
WKU loses 3 of their top 4 scorers.
La. Tech loses Appleby, Smith, and Kyser but will still have 2 of their top 3 scorers in Hamilton and McCree.
UTEP loses 3 of their starting 5 in Washburn, Cooper, and Lang, but they still have some really good younger guys getting decent playing time. They will bring back their 2 leading scorers in Vince Hunter and Earvin Morris Jr.
Next year I believe MTSU, Rice, and Charlotte (if they get a coach) will all be significantly better. Marshall and Southern Miss might be able to put something together as well.
edit: of course I am assuming we even play in CUSA next year.
