Or if he won't.. if all 1.3M people in Memphis gave $4-5, wouldn't that cover it? Put me down for $20

I'm def not a CPA but I think there's a max amount a charitable donation could be either based on a flat number or % of your income. I could be totally wrong though.

FedEx's stock price probably has a lot to do with Mr. Smith's net worth. The VOLUNTARY buyouts were part of a larger initiative that also included investing in more fuel efficient planes/trucks/vans, retiring old outdated technology and replacing with more flexible/scalable alternatives, etc.......I would think that investors would look favorably at these changes and the stock price would reflect that and in turn drive up Mr. Smith's net worth.

You could take the salaries of every single employee that took the buyout and I doubt they would add up to the 2.9 billion increase in Mr. Smith's net worth. There is a lot more to it than generously giving employees who wanted to and were in a position to be able to the option to retire early with a nice chunk of change as a parting gift.

No the buyout was to increase profit to 10% since they operated at 3% margin for a very long time.

I work with and know many multi-millionares every day. Whatever Josh's buyout is, let me tell you...it's a drop in the bucket to someone (or a group of someones) emotionally connected to something.
