That was awesome, especially the replica Japanese WW2 planes. I just watched 'Tora Tora Tora' a couple of months ago.

What a great attempt at accuracy that movie was; wish they'd had CGI back then, I would love to see someone revamp it with better special effects.

I was surprised to learn the part of that movie where the female flight instructor was giving a training flight as the Japanese planes first arrived over Oahu and flew around her causing her to take control from the student diving the plane out of the way, was actually factual. As well as the band playing the National Anthem on the deck of the Nevada as the first bombs fell. That movie really did do it's research. I remember back in 70, right before it came out, the squadron of Japanese planes flying over the city as a promotion for the movie.

World War II buffs were just waiting to bash it for playing loose and fast with the facts. The only thing they really could not do better were the Japanese planes, the Zeros and Vals looked only marginally like the real ones, although the Kates were dead-ringers. And they resisted the temptation to splice in the Arizona exploding. I have a Scale Modeler magazine somewhere with photos of the film crew walking around the mockup of Pearl Harbor and all the ships and stuff, like Godzilla attacking the Pacific Fleet.
