WMU just lost 65-63. That just opened a few mores doors as we lost to them so that improves some of our tiebreakers if we lose to Akron.

Man can a big win change my mental condition. Just a great win. I need to extend kudos to Kris Brewer as I have been very hard on him. In a way, tonight showed why I have been so disappointed with him. Tonight, he showed his potential and I expected that for the last 2 years. Tonight, we could not have won without him. Now how about that acorn game on Friday as a repeat performance. I am very happy right now.

RE: Kent State @ Bowling Green
Will be hard to win Friday playing like we did tonight. What I mean by that statement is we got 0 points and 2 rebounds combined from Ortiz/Lawrence. And Akbar didn't see the floor. If all 3 guards and JH weren't outstanding, we lose. And it's hard to think all 4 of those guys can repeat that performance again. Need some modest contributions by those 3 forwards. And better defense would help.

All that said, great freakin' win. I am repeating myself, but was so proud of the kids tonight.

If we find some way to end up on the opposite side of the bracket than Buffalo and BG I'd be very happy.

Great shooting by Kent! Congrats, you deserved the win. It always seems (minus the Orr years) that every BG-Kent game is a good one and unpredictable, even with mediocre BG teams.

As a BG guy, I just wish Holmes had one more year under Jans. I can't believe the talent that Orr wasted for 2 years. I think if Holmes had another year being coached up by Jans, he'd be an NBA draft pick. He still might get there, but he's probably just too raw. I don't think he started playing basketball until late in high school or something. Oh well, he'll make some money somewhere playing basketball.

Again, great win and well deserved!

I made the trip to BG tonight. On the fence again whether I should put in the time driving there. Glad I did. As usual, a meager crowd with a mostly empty arena. Not many students present. I was one of a handful of Kent fans in attendance.

This was a roller coaster game with back of forth scoring... a major nail biter. Kent was lucky to pull it out. Hats off to Kris Brewer for one of the best games of his career. He just couldn't miss tonight. And that's not taking away from Manley, Jackson and Hall who were also tops. The refs really should take a refresher in how to call games. There was one play where Kent was fouled and it was so obvious that a 5th grader would have blown the whistle. All the BG fans around me gasped and were shaking their heads in disbelief it was so obvious. A great effort by the team tonight. Congrats to Sendy and all!!!

This is really frustrating as a BG fan. Although I'm not as big a fan of the Stroh Center as most BG fans, it's still a nice place to watch a game. However, I've never been to a game (men's) where the attendance was more than 3,000. It could, and will, be a tough place to play, but I think the stench of Orr's tenure has BG students and community pretty apprehensive about the strength of Jans' program. It may take another year. Still frustrating. I envy Kent's success.

Not only that play, but the foul called on Hall on the DJ missed FT with 13 seconds left was maybe the worst call in years against us - and that is saying a lot. Honestly, that official should be reprimanded. I don't believe in the saying "BALL DON'T LIE" but when BG missed the 2 FT after that call, it sure was fitting.

RE: Kent State @ Bowling Green
That was a great basketball game last night. It had a tournament feel to it, except for the lack of a crowd. But the on-court play was intense throughout. Some really brilliant play at both ends by both teams.

On to the tourney possibilities. The people over at the Buffalo fan site have put together a chart with all the possibilities for Friday night's games. BULL RUN

There are 16 possible outcomes Friday night amongst the top 5 teams. Only two of those combinations puts KSU as a 5-seed. All other outcomes have KSU with a top 4 seed. If KSU wins, they earn at least a 3 seed.

There are two bad outcomes: CMU loses, UT wins, BG wins/UB loses, and KSU loses puts KSU as the 5. And CMU, UT, and BG win and we lose also puts KSU as the 5-seed.

I think the key is that we will not lose! These guys really want this game Friday.

With KSU winning, there are two paths to getting the #1 seed. Both have CMU losing and UT winning. The BG-UB game becomes irrelevant at that point because the Flashes win any tiebreaker that also involves both CMU and UT.

It took me 6 seconds to find an error in it. In one of his TB explanations he said KSU was 1-0 against Toledo. Thank goodness none of the actual scenarios were broken based on that error.

I saw that, too. He had it right everywhere else, and as you say, the error didn't change any of the calculations.

Over the last couple of weeks, they lost every game I thought they'd win and won every game I thought they'd lose. I think they'll beat Acorn, though. I'll be there - it should be packed

After last night Dev is now one 3 away from becoming the first player in KSU history to hit 100 3's in a season. He's also 4th in the nation in 3's made. Even with the high volume of attempts he's still hitting 40% from deep.

Just saw Forsythe is out Friday with a turf toe injury. That helps a bit.

And he was not mobile enough to defend JH Jr. anyway. Neither is Johnson. We already had an advantage inside.

True. But we now don't have to worry about him scoring any. The weaker the better.
