Student section will be fine Thursday? Saturday the students will be on spring break. If we have 50 students in attendance we will be lucky.

We've lamented our student section all season.

We are 20-0 in our last 20 home games.

If the student section was an equal of Duke's, I can guarantee you we'd be no better than 20-0 in our last 20 home games.

Too long; didn't read: Who cares about the student section?

RE: Things I like about the 2014-15 Monarchs
I like a lot about our current team. I admire the fact many of them kept playing and stuck around after a season in which a lot of folks (especially today) would have bailed. I like the fact that they were not satisfied with the turn-around and success of last season but continued their drive to be better for this season. I like the fact that for almost each and every team member we can see their personal growth and development as a player. I like the fact they do well as students and 3 are graduate students. I LOVE the way they are selfless and cheer on each other (even the bench warmers) during games. I love the way they don't quit despite getting bad breaks in the game and sometimes from the officials. I happen to know JJ loves the movie "Hoosiers" (as I do) and shows it over and over to our team. I love that our team takes the messages of that movie to heart and lives them in the best way possible. So let's continue to enjoy another week of a great season and remember the words of Coach Norman Dale "Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: team, team, team - no one more important that the other."

I love the leadership that our three seniors have brought to this team. Ross, you can't say enough about him. He stuck with this team through the worst of times and has been a true leader. He may not rank as one of our best players all-time but I would give him a spot on our all-time team. If he had bolted a couple of years ago it could have taken years to get to where we are now. Plus, as mentioned above, his highlight plays are the best.

Arledge may have only been here one year but I respect him and his play as much as any player on the team. He always acknowledges the refs before the game and he has been on the bad end of some awful calls this year . He handles all of this like a professional. He went to GMU this year and handled the game with class when some of his old team mates wanted to show him up. His cool in that game may have been the difference between a win and a loss. I wish he had been here longer but he probably does too. And he is explosive around the rim. We will miss him.

Ebondo has been great for our program. Last year he came in when Jones was looking hard for a post player when the recruiting period was running late. No one had high expectations for his play but he gave ( and continues to) 100+ % every time he enters the game. He often leads the cheers from the bench and keeps a smile on his face. I hope he gets some minutes this week and scores a bucket for us. The crowd will go crazy

This may not be the most talented group of seniors we will lose but we have never had three that represent our school any better than the Ross, Arledge, and Ebondo.

I agree but i can't lie in saying the seniors of finney, hassell, james, carter or delancy, illiadis, cooper, and baze were some good groups of seniors but i understand what you mean.

I would submit that the perspective you bring has probably come at a price. Reminiscing about teams of the past most likely means that you may need to apply some Grecian formula to your private regions in the Southern Hemisphere to maintain that illusion of youth we are all so loathe to abandon.

And, pray tell, what would Smitty know about Grecian Formula? That would be like the desert knowing about fertilizer! Now, I am speaking of his Northern regions...I know nothing of his Southern parts.

Too soon!

I'm still imagining a barren wasteland south of Smitty's equator.

LOL

Ok, back to our special year.

getting ranked has not been lost on me. It's almost more pride boosting for me than qualifying for and losing a 1st round NCAA tourney (I have my reasons)

This special year ain't done either!
