Sad What is your all-time best/worst reaction to one of your team's meltdowns?
In light of UTEP'S meltdown loss to USM I would like to ask you what is your most awesome reaction to a historic meltdown loss by your team?

I remember ODU lost a sizeable lead to VMI (I think) in the early '90's. I was renting a second story apt. that had a small landing at the top of the stairs. I was listening to the game on a boom box style radio. I was so pissed after the game I took my boom box out to the landing, swung it around over my head by it's cord several times and let 'er rip. It landed in the middle of the street two houses down. It helped a little.

RE: What is your all-time best/worst reaction to one of your team's meltdowns?
My worst meltdown was when I coached 8th grade boys basketball in Houston and our team had a chance at going undefeated. We were unfortunately facing our rival school at their gym in the last game of the season though, and my starting point guard had to sit out the first half for his lackadaisical/overconfident attitude in practice the day before the game. We were far behind after one quarter because our team was out of sync, but pulled to within about ten points by halftime. We turned it on in the 2nd half with him back in there, were down by a point after a bucket and forced a turnover with 2 seconds left with our press. I had no timeouts left at that point because I had to use more than I would've liked to stop the bleeding in the first half. We got the ball on their sideline, ran one of our inbounds plays, and had a guy open for a three which just missed at the buzzer. I was down for about a week and a half.

The only thing that came close to that was when UTSA Football was in our 3rd season, and we were trailing Houston 31-28 after 3 quarters. Five 4th quarter turnovers then led to a 28-0 4th quarter for the Cougars to make the final 59-28. I quit posting on RowdyTalk because I was so disgusted, although that lasted only a week.

RE: What is your all-time best/worst reaction to one of your team's meltdowns?
After a bad loss like Somiss (I can't remember which game it was) I beat up my ex and put her in the hospital and my kids had to go to a foster home until she recuperated. We lost our house because I couldn't work and my kids were living in my truck, (good thing it had a camper shell). The beating was so bad that she starting playing around to get even and I then beat her up and her boyfriend. Again, I was put in the slammer and went to work for walmart because I was proficient in English otherwise I would have had to work at k-mart. Now I'm working as a security guard at a bank and part time in a grocery store. I opened up a walk up law office because I started reading law books in the pokey and am now a certified wanna be lawyer. I also cut grass on weekends. Alas.

Hey, I'm just kidding but that sure would make a great story for the Lifetime channel. LOL

Can't top olliebaba for the creativity.

The best I can offer is totally demolishing a six-pack of Bud after a home loss to VCU. It helped enormously.

March 18, 2005 around 2:30pm

49ers blew a 14 point lead to NC State in the tourney, I proceeded to kick the corner of my coffee table and fractured a bone in my left foot.

Quite the overreaction for me as I generally deal with losses by a heavy dosage of crying and masturbating.

RE: What is your all-time best/worst reaction to one of your team's meltdowns?
I've watched friends lose it and punch inanimate objects much to their regret. The worst thing I did was stare out of dead eyes in DC after we lost in that last second tip to Butler in the tourney. The let down was so bad the 4 of us sitting in the stands sat there and didn't say a word. I then passed out watching the Pitt game after and I regret not watching it but slept as the tequila shots wore off and the endorphin's escaped my body in an epic deflation. I imagine I looked like a kid who's mom just took his last piece of candy and made him watch as she slowly chewed it and then whispered into his ear "You were adopted".

I was upset for a minute. When the minute passed, I realized that this was just a game. And that in the grand scheme of things, I have family, friends, a job, money in the bank, and a roof over my head. Everything was pretty good in the world.

Then...

I was in the band for that. I cried.

After the Butler tip-in I drove to the ABC store, got a bottle of jack, drove to the Churchill lookout (downtown Richmond), and listened to Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World" on repeat while crying and contemplating enrolling into the graduate sports management program at VCU.

Those were dark days for me.

It is according to which end you are on a game like UTEP and USM. After what Southern Miss has gone thru this year most of our fans couldn't have felt any better.

After Kulukos shot. I sat in stunned disbelief for about half an hour. Then drove from Richmond to Va Beach in a daze. Now I know how people feel when they experience trauma and dissociate. It's surreal

4 or 5 homecomings ago we were up on ECU like 21-0 and ended up losing. That was pretty bad.

odu fans remember this.. last game of the season against Drexel. Kent Bazemore's last odu home game. Down by 3 points and there's only seconds left on the clock if i recall and Kent gets fouled on the 3 point line. Makes the first and second and missed the 3rd one.. that one was tough to swallow

RE: What is your all-time best/worst reaction to one of your team's meltdowns?
Any ODU fans remember 4th and 29? That was brutal. I stood there shocked for a long time, and then proceeded to play "Victory" as soft as I ever played it (I was in the band at the time).

But the worst was the FCS playoff loss at home to Georgia Southern. I almost cried at that one. I was so certain we would win then go to NDSU, beat them, and go to Texas for championship. Alas! It wasn't meant to happen.
