RE: UC @ Tulane
Based on your criteria...Houston is a great addition to the AAC. And Aguire Cummings and Rivers played in the early 80s
They were a much better addition 1995 IMO, some great NBA players, and a National runner up in the past 10 years. The problem is, they haven't won a single tournament game since losing in back to back finals (30 years ago).
Temples history is even better. They went to 3 E8s from 93-2001. And made the tourney nearly every year.
They made the tourney 6/10 years we were in CUSA, and won some, not bad - not as good as Charolette - but the thing is, when you look at Temple's recent history in coming into the American, it's not in the same category as Marquette or DePauls coming into CUSA - both with good NBA players, and Final Fours.
Btw...a simple search of Tulsa shows they went to the Tourney 8 time from 1994-2003 (CUSA years), made an e8 and 3 s16s. And only dropped the first round game twice. They had a better Tourney record than any sans Cincy over that time.
How they did the same time we were in C-USA doesn't matter much, it's how their recent history, overall history, and pedigree compare now, to how CUSA team's recent history, overall history, and pedigree were then- Tulsa has had some nice runs, and were at their best when they were a coach stepping stone program.
They have 0 Final Fours in history, and have won 1 tournament game in the past 10 years.
