MBB vs Charlotte
Just saw tweet from athletic dept. that the game tonight is almost sold out!! Only 175 tickets left. Should be an awesome atmosphere. When was our last sellout?

Go Owls!!

Go Owls!!

From Fact Book:

ATTENDANCE RECORDS
Largest Home Crowds
1. 5,680 vs Texas (M5, 1992)
2. 5,583 vs. Texas (J30, 1993)
3. 5,582 vs. Kansas (D7, 1995)
4. 5,208 vs. Texas A&M (D 31, 2008)
5. 5,083 vs. Texas (J12, 1991)
6. 5,032 vs. Houston (M3, 1993)
7. 5,027 vs. SMU (F27, 1993)
8. 5,013 vs. Houston (J13, 1996)
9. 5,011 vs. Houston (J18, 1992)
5,011 vs. Houston (N21, 1998)
11. 5,010 vs. Texas A&M (M6, 1993)

So I assume it was vs. Houston in 1998. That was with the curtain in place. The largest crowd in Tudor was vs A&M in 2008 but that was over 500 short of current listed capacity of 5750. What is impressive is that our average attendance in 92-93 was 4,645. (Edit: Maybe that included the game vs. Michigan at The Summit?)

RE: MBB vs Charlotte
I predict a lot of season tickets sold for next year. Lots of excitement building behind the program with the way the team has fought this year and bought in.

Count me in as a first time owner come the end of this season.

Wow! Is this the result of an concerted/innovative marketing campaign? Or ticket giveaway? Or is there sudden community interest in the exciting Owls and this year's valiant seniors?

I would hope and assume that unlike other sell outs/near sell outs that this crowd will be essentially all Owl fans. Not half Ags, Coogs or Sips.

I assuming Charlotte doesn't have a large following in Houston.

I went to possibly every MBB game during my years at Rice. I did not realize that those years were a sort of attendance golden age for us.

The Charlotte ticket is $5 with any $15 ticket bought for a Stanford baseball game through http://www.riceowls.com.

Not a normal sell-out. Place will be full of kids as opposed to curious MBB fans.

Starting Lineup on Senior Night for the Owls:

PEERA-GUERCY-DRONE-GREEN-GEARHART

Starting tonight for Charlotte:

Ogbueze-Dorn-Thorne-Williams, Henry

Pregame Scouting report on Charlotte with Coach Carlin Hartman:

"They are in the upper echelon in talent. Have a great point guard. Have a lot of depth on the bench. Henry could be an NBA player. He's a 4-tool guy. He's a matchup nightmare. He's got really a game that truly can translate to the next level."

"Drone: Andrew did a good job against them the last game. He did not have his best performance against ODU, but he should be ready today."

"They all can make a shot on the perimeter. It's going to be a challenge for us. We want to be aggressive, get back on defense. Obviously the Seniors, we want to honor them. (Guys like) van have helped really change the culture here."

Coach Rhoades on pregame:

"(Last game) We gotta learn from every one (game.) I thought we had a great week, great practice, but we had a stinker--we gotta grow from it, come out of it."

"Max has been very coachable, we've been really hard on him all year long. He's gained some confidence. He's getting him to understand there's a certain way you have to go about it. He's being aggressive."

"Drone: He was a step slow (last game). He's still a sophomore, he's gotta learn. We're not gonna go with anyone else. He's really worried about mistakes, you gotta learn to play through mistakes. Whatever happens be ready for the next play. He's gotta throw his body around. If he rebounds it's gonna help us."

"Jackson, he's got the green light when you're open. I can't tell you when to do it, you gotta feel it yourself. He doesn't have the body yet to play it (full throttle) the whole game yet. He's gotta be mentally tough fight through being tired. We're gonna try to give him a bit of rest but he's gotta get through it."

"Seniors: Van he's getting a graduate degree, will have a Masters from Rice, that's pretty impressive. He's done a really good job of buying in' Whatever you want from me coach.""

"Peera: He's a basketball player. He's a competitive kid. He's a great leader. I wish he was a sophomore. Nobody thought he was going to play the way he did, even me. But he's been great. I'm gonna really miss him he's great to be around. I think we'll see him around here (at Rice) afterwards."

"Gearhart: He's one of the better players in the league- all conference to me. He's bought in--I challenged him when I got the job:" Are you gonna be the gray guy? - just in the shadows or are you gonna step in there?' He has done a great job and I'm proud of him."

"Charlotte: Talented and athletic don't let their record fool you. We have our hands full (tonight)."

Be wary, Owls! Charlotte wants payback, and revenge is a dish best served cold (very cold)! Quoted before the game: "You take the good, you take the bad, you take 'em both, I'M F*CKING MAD!!"
