OT: UConn beats UMass 4-0 on ice hockey's "senior night".
UConn finished its regular season in Hockey East with this win in front of 6,298 at the XL Center in Hartford. It may have been a sell out because the upper sections are blocked off for hockey.
UConn finished its first season in Hockey East with a record of 7-11-4. Depending on other games this weekend, UConn will finish anywhere from 8th to 11th place in the 12 team conference. Next up is the conference tournament.

Quinnipiac clinched the ECAC regular-season championship. They secured themselves a 1st round bye in the conference tournament.

Uconn averaged around 5600 for the season ( in hockey) which would put us in the middle of pack attendance wise for basketball in this conference. Which is pretty sad....

UConn has the ability to play college hockey at the very top level. I think we'll make it to a Frozen Four in the next 10 years or so.
I wouldn't be too hard on the attendance. SMU's remodeled stadium is a great place even though it only holds 7K.

Not wanting to be that guy but when Larry Brown leaves that program it will be as empty as it has been before he got there.

I would say closer to 10 years than say 3, but UConn has a long way to go to reach BU, BC talent level. They didn't have a bad year, but they need to consistently be in the top 4-5 of HE before even talking about reaching a Frozen Four.

Given the area talent and the new coach...along with the fact that UCONN still doesn't have a full roster of scholarships....
I think they are 5 years out from contending.

In HE or nationally?
As far as talent, it seems like CT isn't producing as much talent as it usually does. QPac doesn't even have anyone from CT. UConn and Yale have one. Maybe I'm blanking on some prep school players, but the majority of talent is in MA.

True...but the new coach (a BC guy) and playing in arguably the top conference in college hockey will result in UCONN getting more and more top players in New England.

I'm not counting on it anytime soon, but I'm 52 and I'm pretty sure I'll see it happen in my lifetime.

When I was growing up, we used to go watch West Haven play Hamden at the New Haven coliseum. Great hockey back then. Do those schools still produce D1 hockey talent?
