RIP Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock)
Leonard Nimoy has passed

Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.

That sucks. I was never a big Star Trek fan, but yeah, that sucks.

He really played an iconic role. Seemed like a really decent guy as well.

I have to admit it. I feel much more sadness over this than the death of many family members. RIP Mr. Nimoy.

Like everyone else back then, I watched the re-runs over and over and over in the 70's. Never got tired of them.

The chemistry between Spock, Kirk, and the rest of the crew was really remarkable.

I watched repeats when I was little boy. I really loved the original series... Sad day for me.

Roddenberry assembled a great ensemble cast.
I watched the original shows as a kid in the late 60s. It really was the first TV program that I got hooked on. Ill admit it. I was very close to being a Trekkie. My mother made all her clothes back then on a sewing machine. She made me a custom Star Trek shirt to wear on Halloween one year and I went as Kirk. Still have some pictures of it somewhere.

spock relative to kirk has defined how I develop relationships at every level...I started breathing in '65....

it was a different version of sawyer and finn....and I'm a huge Clemens fan....

in scope, the premise is iconic/ironic in compare/contrast relative to time....

it's cool to me.....so many different ways to write......

It's so strange.....I can only do that with my left hand....I'm dominant right-handed and dominant left-footed....

I just tried again....it still only work from the left...

disclaimer: stardate logging for all trekkies that still remember 'those things' that reminds one about the fun of being a kid

RE: RIP Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock)
Leonard Nimoy On The Secret Jewish Origins Of Spock

Do you think Obama knew about the Jewish blessing when he made this pic?

Quote:Spock may have been half-human and half-Vulcan, but Leonard Nimoy was all Jew. His parents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, and they raised him in the Orthodox tradition — and that meant regular visits to his local synagogue in the Boston area.

When he was a boy, he had a particularly profound experience during one such visit: At a point in the service when he was supposed to cover his eyes, he peeked out and saw some men performing a prayer that included a hand gesture that is familiar to geeks everywhere as the Vulcan Salute.

A few years ago, Nimoy recounted the whole story to the Wexler Oral History project, and it’s well worth a watch. We’re saying a mourner’s kaddish for you, Leonard.
