MLK was arrested several times as well.
Read a history book... civil disobedience...is different than what Malscum X was arrested for...
I assure you I am well versed in the history of that era. Malcolm X felt that Martin's approach was pointless in the face of the outright violence against blacks during the era. Malcolm's stance was no different than John Brown.
Here is his mugshot for his 1946 burglary... I think this predates his disapproval of MLK.
He was a race hustler like Sharpton... you really should not compare him to MLK.

I don't hold any singular man up as a paragon of virtue. I was just pointing out the reason why Holder would recommend such a book. Malcolm was defiant of the idea that somehow the Federal gov't would come and save blacks after 100 years of marginalization. I think it would have been difficult for MLK's movement to succeed without the counterpoint that Malcolm and the Black Panthers provided to the nation.

He was correct in some sense. The Democratic party in particular have figured out how to keep blacks on the Democratic plantation and voting for the peanut handouts the federal Democrat politicians hand out like candy.

We will just have to disagree. MLK did not need this fella's help. Time was on his side. Holder has done nothing but race bait, pander, and divide...fitting for a follower of Malscum X.

I was under the impression that Malcolm X rescinded or changed most of his statements that one would find disagreeable before he was murdered?

RE: Hate filled Holder says read the biography of Malcom X
1952 quickly rose to become one of its most influential leaders. For a dozen years he was the public face of the controversial group; in keeping with the Nation's teachings he espoused black supremacy, advocated the separation of black and white Americans and rejected the civil rights movement's emphasis on integration.
By March 1964, Malcolm X had grown disillusioned with the Nation of Islam and its leader Elijah Muhammad. He ultimately repudiated the Nation and its teachings and embraced Sunni Islam. After a period of travel in Africa and the Middle East, including completing the Hajj, he returned to the United States to found Muslim Mosque, Inc. and the Organization of Afro-American Unity. While continuing to emphasize Pan-Africanism, black self-determination, and black self-defense, he disavowed racism saying "I did many things as a [Black] Muslim that I'm sorry for now... I guess a man's entitled to make a fool of himself if he's ready to pay the cost. It cost me 12 years."
In February 1965, shortly after repudiating the Nation of Islam, he was assassinated by three of its members. The Autobiography of Malcolm X, published shortly after his death, is considered one of the most influential nonfiction books of the 20th century.

Looks like he decided to part ways with his Nation of Islam ways before being killed.

Hey I agree with you on the bolded. But that is the flaw with many black leaders who lived in that period of American History. They still view the world through the prism of the 1960's.

That's what I thought, which would make his autobiography a much more compelling read than about someone who is some paragon of virtue. Nelson Mandela was such an amazingly compelling leader because he was in jail for trying to violently overthrow the nation, yet grew to understand that violent upheaval serves no one.

Wow Malcolm X is a dead ringer for Rajon Rondo. Uncanny.

I had to read the biography of Malcolm X in college. Seemed like a very angry individual, though I can't say I know much about him otherwise.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
This thread was created because of butthurt.
Scott Walker is my freedom fighter... How do you like them apples?
Your hate for Obama and Holder has clearly blinded you. That's why you can't tell what color the dress is.
