It's early in this election cycle, and personally I'd like to see him sit this one out and wait. His track record is pretty damn solid, way moreso than Obama's at this point in 07, but still he could use a little more experience. All that said, if he separates himself from the pack and wins the nomination, I'll gladly vote for him.

On the other hand, the longer he waits, the more likely he is to say something, anything, that gets overblown and used to discredit him. Everything you say gets added to list of possible things to attack in a presidential campaign. But he might not have enough of a national following yet. He may have to do more than the union confrontation.

As people have said, the celebration on the Fourth of July is recognizing our independence from British rule. After that separation, we were not independent from government, but independent from THEIR government so that we could set up OUR OWN government. I think he is thinking of some hypothetical revolutionary war in which Americans win in the name of anarchy, thereby becoming independent from government.

You do realize that a monarchy is a form of government, right? If you say yes, then your previous post makes zero sense.

But he said Monarch...referring to the rule of King George. He wasn't really talking about the English government or monarchy.

Not to mention the main crux of the revolution...the fact that we weren't given any representation IN Parliament/Government.

Yep, it's not as if Washington just let the rebellions that took place after our independence go, he crushed them and rightly so. We simply traded governments, and never intended to be free of them.

It's also a falsehood. We celebrate our Independence from English Monarch rule and the formation of our own nation...of the people, by the people, for the people.

Typical GOP.

A monarch sits at the head of a monarchy, which is a form of government. Quite mincing words. You are perfectly capable, as is Fit, of understanding the quote. The problem with lock-step liberals like the two of you is that you would rather argue things like this than acknowledge the truth in the statement. It'd you go to when you are left without a foot to stand on.

If they thought on it more deeply they would realize that the Monarchy we won independence from felt all rights and privileges came ONLY FROM THE MONARCHY is The Government. You could only do what the Monarchy told you. You were only give. What the Monarchy allowed you to have. You were, wait for it, dependent on the Monarchy ie The Government. We fought to be free of that kind of thinking

They're mindless, they actually NEED the government at this point. The dependency they already feel is so strong that the thought of a limited government that works for the people and not to support the people is beyond comprehension.

What's funny is that the crew in this thread arguing about our independence from a monarchy cheers every time the current president flouts or ignores current law as a monarch would/could. They want him to act the part of a monarch and are happy to lick his boots like the servants they are.

Too ironic.

I argued about that, and I do no such thing. That statement is false, so unless you're a liar or want to contend either of those two points (you really don't), you shouldn't keep reposting lies.
