Never did play defense. It was a perfect match with Melo in NY since he didn't either. If he stays healthy which is doubtful he could help a team.

Not letting Hassan Whiteside go would have been perfect.

The Mavs have assembled all the pieces they need to make another title run THIS season. But I wonder at what cost?

They have pieces that's for sure. Rondo likes to be the primary ball hander. Monta Ellis likes to be the primary ball handler. Dirk likes to shoot. Amare does pretty good at pick and roll but he has never really played defense. A lot of good pieces that don't fit together too well is the way I see it.

A) Amare isn't playing this year.
B) The Mavs still have Tyson Chandler on the roster...they don't NEED Amare to be the Phoenix version of Amare
C) They have Rajon Rondo, Raymond Felton, Devin Harris and JJ Barea for help at PG...(Barea was on the Mavs title team a few years ago...as was Tyson Chandler and Dirk), Monta Ellis at SG, Richard Jefferson and Chandler Parsons at SF, Nowitzki and Smith at PF, and Tyson Chandler and Bernard James at Center.
They still have a while to gel like they really need to....the Mavs have a couple of new pieces.
Mavs coach Rick Carlisle is a damned good coach...and he will figure it out.
I like the Grizz....I root for them after the Mavs.
I've been a Mavs fan since they came into existence though...and that will never change..especially since we have the best owner of any owner in sports hands down in Mark Cuban.

Just another in a very long list of name signing by the Mavs. It won't move the needle. They still can't stop a blind woman in a wheelchair so they won't make it far in the playoffs.

Memphis is tied for 6th in defense..and the Mavs are 13th. I wouldn't call that chopped liver.
Anyways..I am considering the source here. You've been wrong on just about anything you predict. LOL

Dallas is ranked 3rd offensively...and Memphis 15th...so I'm telling you that we won't be an easy out here. Add to that the fact that we have had some critical people hurt.....right now Rondo is out with an injury of sorts.
I truly believe that Dallas will be one of the teams in the West playing for the right to go to the NBA championship.
I hope Memphis is that other team...it would be like a no-lose deal for me...either way a team I support would be going.

Right, because Dirk is the only one on the Mavs allowed not to play defense. Amare is a good add for the Mavs. Still waiting for Rondo to get in synch
