Have to be careful with salt, too much of it is not good, as is nearly everything else. Moderation is key.

Drink plenty of water, exercise, and get in your fiber. Those three will do wonders.

Do we still think that saturated fats in particular are bad? Or is that not proven either?

Like what Dukes said, new studies have debunked that saturated fats are very bad for you. Mono is good, Poly should be moderated. Trans fats are not good at all.

Saw this today and reminded me of this thread...

Krispy Kreme is partnering with a minor league baseball team in Wilmington to sell a bacon donut hot dog.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks, a single-A affiliate of the reigning American League champion Kansas City Royals, is even asking fans to name this crazy culinary concoction -- which also has raspberry jam on it.

Sounds like a good excuse to go on the Atkins diet.

Been paleo for a couple of months now. I feel better and have dropped some pounds. It is a very difficult diet to maintain though.

Eggs and meat are great, until all you can eat morning, noon and night are eggs and meat.

Aren't vegetables and fruits allowed as well?

Fruits are a mixed bag. They have a lot of sugar and are your ONLY source of taste-able sugar. You'll overdo the fruits really easy.

I now know why sugar is considered a drug.

I do have to say that the diet + weightlifting has taken me from 220 to 195 pretty fast.
