If I had to guess a reason, it might have had more to do with JJ NOT being from a P5 conference school like those who they did "invite" to sign before the combine events. Only outsiders - like UAB fans - know that Adidas rewarded the second, third and fourth (at best) fastest times.

I think that's a given, also I wonder what role school affiliation plays since we dropped Adidas

I was super happy for him. I watched that part of the combine and, even though I wasn't surprised, I was really impressed at how well he did. I was really proud of him, but it's messed up he's not getting the prize because of a stipulation like that. If nothing else, I hope he gets the last laugh and becomes the next Hester.

Nike or Converse should swoop in and make them and look bad and JJ very happy. That's what I would do.

Years ago, Firestone annually put out huge ads claiming that all of the "Indy 500" winners were using their tires. Later it was found that they had paid money to each team and furnished unlimited new tires to 30 or all 33 of the racers. Eventually they lost their monopoly and the ads faded into history. Now we have a company bragging about "the fastest 40" when it was not - just the fastest of our signed clients.

A PR stunt is supposed to give your brand good PR. Adidas has taken more than $100K in bad PR from this.

This whole Watts-Upped operation looks like it was run by Direct Communications.
