After looking at how the D1Baseball Top 25 fared last week I'm guessing that we end up at #11 with them as well.

Perfect Game kept us at #20, and have teams that have played a home-baked, powderpuff schedule to date (e.g., A&M, Miss. St) jumping ahead of us; yet they have Texas, who with outplayed and split with at #8. Go figure...

Florida State who lost a series to Georgia, went 1-3 this week, and beat Oakland to start the year is ranked ahead of us.

Close but no cigar. Moved up to #10 in D1Baseball, right on Texas' heels.

is it pretty much a consensus that D1baseball is the most legit ranking? Of course aside from RPI once it becomes stable around April?

And we rank #11 in average attendance through our first 5 home games at 3,847...

http://www.sportswriters.net/ncbwa/news/...150223.pdf

...but how long will that last? Hopefully, at least through the Stanford series. Does anyone know how many season tickets were sold this year? Hopefully rebounding from last year's dramatic and sudden decline.

Can we discuss the uniforms worn during the Sunday game against Texas? I am pretty sure Aquino wore it when defending his home run title at TD Ameritrade.

Yesterday's visitor's blue jerseys with white pinstripe pants were a nice novelty item. I guess they wanted to make Josh Pettitte feel right at home (the pinstripes, that is).

Announced attendance for HBU was 2,048 so I would assume that's a pretty good proxy.

I would have guessed 300 in the stands

RE: Baseball Polls (w/o February 23rd)
From today's Baseball America chat...

Quote:Will King (Texas): What do you think of the Rice Owls so far?

Michael Lananna: I really like what I see. We knew their pitching staff would be deep, but we didn’t know if they’d hit. Even head coach Wayne Graham told me the proof wasn’t in the pudding yet as far as his offense. It’s early, but so far the Owls have answered those questions. They’ve put up double-digit hits in every game. Freshman center fielder Ryan Chandler (.344/.436/.469) has been a spark plug at the top of the order. Junior shortstop Leon Byrd (.367/.432/.500) is building off of a stellar fall. And veterans Kirby Taylor and John Clay Reeves are mashing. If the Owls can continue to hit like that—and pitch the way they’re capable of—there’s no question they’ll be a force.
