No point in it, as far as I am concerned.

Well if we didn't suck as a league, the point would be to get a 2nd or possibly even 3rd team in... Just like in baseball

At least the Belt does what it can to make the regular season more meaningful than some other conferences. I'll predict that as the bracket starts to fill with tourney winners, we'll all be able to easily pull up articles across the net about the teams that missed out on the big dance after winning their regular season. These writers often like to throw in that their choice would be for regular season winners to get the bid. Probably not going to happen anytime soon, since the only the Ivy League seems to subscribe to this philosophy, but the sentiment is definitely out there.

Again, at least we have a conference where the regular season means something, even in the absence of multiple bids. And maybe we can work on that bid thing in the coming years.

Get the league stronger and being the regular season champ will mean more

Agreed. The only 2 thing that matter in the FunBelt in basketball is who qualifies for the tourney and who wins the tourney.

Anything else is a meaningless asterisk.

I do still place value on the regular-season championship. I think there are a lot of college basketball fans and players who still do.

However, yes, the disappointment would be much greater to miss out on the tourney win. As I'm sure someone will enjoy pointing out, I've experienced that firsthand.

I think being regular season champs is a solid accomplishment, however unfortunate - it is still virtually meaningless except for qualifying and getting a bye in the Conf tourney.

I am looking forward to see if the Eagles contribution to the SBC All Obnoxious team might jump on the scorers table and celebrate if they would happen to win tonight in the Cajundome.

I know Harrow has one guard position and MVP locked up - but Ferguson should finish first team unanimously!
