Stop already.

There are exactly zero people who believe the team would go to the tournament if the season ended today.

There are very few who believe they are strong enough to run the table and make the finals of the AAC.

Discussing the what ifs is what fans do.

But, thank goodness for the nugget.

Per rpiforecast.com, if we win out in the regular season, then win twice in the conference tournament against, say Cinci & Tulsa, but lose the AAC tournament championship against SMU, we would be 23-11 with an RPI of 32 and a SOS of 36. That's a lot of ifs, but with that record & RPI numbers (yes the committee still uses the RPI) would make Memphis a strong candidate for an at-large bid.

I think I'm one of the more positive fans around even during this not so great season, but I don't think we will win out. I'm really just hoping to go 2-2 and will be extremely happy with going 3-1 for these last 4 games.

I, too, don't think it's likely...but I will be hoping against hope that it does. As of this morning, teamrankings.com gives us the following chances to win our final four regular season games:

50.1% vs. SMU
71.2% vs. Tulsa
33.7% at Cincy
31.1% at UConn

Interestingly enough, teamrankings.com also thinks we're a virtual lock to get into the NCAA tournament with 22 wins.

28.9% with 21 wins
80.9% with 22 wins
99% with 23 wins
100% with 24 wins (which mean we would win out and win the AAC tournament)

Doesn't mean jack, but it's fun to talk about.

Mimi, I don't see eye-to-eye with you a whole lot (which is fine) but on this we agree 100%.

Succinct and well said.
