Kent State @ Miami
The Miami RedHawks (6-8) have won 3 in a row. Tuesday's game with the Golden Flashes is the first of 3 straight home games for Miami. Could the Flashes face a hostile environment at Millet Hall? Are the RedHawks more than a spoiler? Are they a contender?

Not sure. But here is what I do know about Miami. Junior guard Eric Washington has been playing well lately. He followed up a 17 point night vs. Ohio with 21 on Saturday at Akron. 6'3 junior Geovonie McKnight and 6'3 seniorWill Sullivan are the two other players averaging double figures. Both have started every game this season for Miami. Sullivan is shooting 49% on the season including 45% from behind the arc.

For the Flashes, focus and defensive intensity should be givens. A chance to remain in control of the MAC standings. Keep an eye on Jimmy Hall. Miami had the luxury of not having to defend him at the MAC Center. The Flashes should have an advantage or two under the basket.

Go Flashes!

Saw that the team is practicing at Xavier this afternoon.

Miami attendance has been abysmal all season, even for the Charlie Coles Day on a Saturday vs. Ohio U., so I doubt we see much of a hostile or any other kind of crowd on a Tuesday night.

From what I saw of Miami very good guards and not much down low. So if we make a concerted effort to play the inside -out game vs throw up a lot of 3's I think we can have some success.

From what I saw when Mia was at Kent, was that their guards were quicker than ours. Since we defend the 3 pt shot so aggressively, they would drive around us to the paint and either pull up for the mid range or drive to the bucket. They did this very well and made our game close. We may need to back off one step and force the 3 pt shot to see if they can really make them. IOW, keep their guards in front. That is just my observation from one game only, so it is subject to being wrong. Sendy will have it figured.

in don't see us taking a night off on defense.. only thing that could sink our ship is ice-cold shooting. that won't happen, hopefully.

with spicer & ortiz giving us production at the 5.. & brewer & manley & hall driving to the hoop.. we have an inside game to balance our outside game. hence, we've had a successful season to this pt :)

i've noticed that jackson has been off offensively last 3 games. hmmm

I will keep an eye (or at least an ear) on this tomorrow night.

I think Jackson is tired or slightly hurt as I have seen a slight limp at times. Not having Thomas this year is not helping the other guards. They have played more per game this year. Jackson 3 minutes more a game, Brewer only one and Manley plus eight. It might play a role before the season ends. I hope not but I am worried about it especially Manley.

It's why a good seed must be secured at all costs. You need fresh legs in the last two games.

Does anyone know if there a video feed of the game tonight available for the price of "on the house"?

For you scoreboard gawkers, Toledo and Northern Illinois postponed until tomorrow due to a water main break on UT's campus.

Kent State getting to the line a bit. Of course, that can be good or bad...1 of 3 to start. And pulling out that 1 - 3 - 1 that worked pretty well at Toledo. Sounds like Lawrence is playing at the top of the zone...Dave has mentioned that a few times.

Jimmy Hall is something else. 15 points for Hall. And the Flashes open up a 6 point lead as Manley ties the single season 3 point record.

This is pretty much the same team on the floor as last year, except for Goodson and Henniger being replaced by Hall and Akbar, and missing Thomas for a lot this year. Last year's team won 16 and dropped out in the first round of the tournament, and this year has 19 wins already and is still possible to finish first in the regular season.

Yes, Ortiz, Manley, and Spicer improved somewhat, but Hall is the big difference. I love watching him play.

With the Flashes up 8 at halftime. Here is a little scoreboard watching:

Bowling Green is crushing Ohio in Athens at halftime (40-22) so the Flashes will need a win to stay a game ahead of the Falcons.

Eastern Michigan is giving Central Michigan a game (CMU up 5) in Ypsilanti.
