AAC Swimming and Diving Championships: Congratulations ECU Men and SMU Women!
ECU men and SMU women win the conference titles.

SMU women win comfortably!

ECU out touch the SMU men by .01 sec in the 4x100m freestyle for the overall team title.

Another stroke and SMU would have won. You're anchor was ridiculously fast!

It's a shame that neither USF nor UCF sponsor swimming. USF women's swimming actually won a national championship in division 2 back in the day

Yeah it's unfortunate that their are only 4 men, and 6 women's programs in the conference.

USF was the women's swimming national champion in division 2 in 1985 and the men's runner up in 1971
I think we stopped Mens swimming in late 70s and the women's in late 80s

Most Florida schools have ended their swimming programs.

Pretty cool highlights here. BTW one sport I think ECU will regret dropping is men's soccer, especially since we just built a new soccer stadium for the women.

A casualty of eons of poor performance and money better spent elsewhere. That said, the Women's team has been doing well.

Is it safe to assume this whole sport goes away with the new scholarship costs?

Tennessee would sure have wasted a TON of money...

RE: AAC Swimming and Diving Championships: Congratulations ECU Men and SMU Women!
I was a member of the Tulane Men's team in the mid-80's.
We had a very respectable program and competed against FSU, Alabama, Vandy, LSU, etc.
It was disbanded in the 90's. The women's program had to take a hiatus due to being a Katrina casualty. It was brought back about 4 years ago and has gradually been improving.
I wouldn't have any qualms about having a joint conference championship with C-USA. FIU, Rice and WKU have decent programs. They only have 3 men's programs and the AAC only has 4. Seems like you could save a ton of $$ and increase the competition level by doing such a thing.
