Its not specifically about AAU. No other Texas school is getting into the AAU anytime soon (like next 20 years and probably longer).
UH is top tier on the research measure. They are comparable in international rankings to some of the AAU schools. They are making a lot of progress. They still haven't made enough progress becoming attractive enough to all the good students. Most of my friends look at lesser schools like some of the SEC schools before UH (that includes a couple of UH grads).
Comment was about Texas Tech be able to attract top academicians in other words Professors, Researcher etc not students, to a backwater place like Lubbock.
at least one prominent researcher disagrees with you

so again lets go over the points you are NOT "winning"
you made the claim that Texas Tech was said by a former president of UT (UT being UT Austin) to not ever be in a position to be CLASSIFIED as RU/VH by the Carnegie Foundation
you have failed to provide any proof of that even though you were provided with links to the two well known articles from two former presidents at UT talking about research and flagships
you then tried to provide an article by the president of UT DALLAS to support your claim
of course no where in that article does Dr Daniel ever mention that Texas Tech will never be classified as RU/VH or will struggle to do so
here is what he DOES say though
For example,
Texas Tech and the University of Houston ar
e relatively mature research universities
with the largest existing base of research
support (Table 8).
But each of the seven emerging research
universities has a strong foundation to succeed.
Older universities in smaller
communities, such as Texas Tech and UT El Paso, have large alumni bases. And while
their communities are smaller than DFW,
Houston, or San Antonio, their communities
should be avid supporters of their institutions.
The suggested criteria were specifically
written to qualify “community
support” or “gifts” for scholar
ships, fellowships, etc., to
empower communities to step forward and support their university. In any case, it is
unrealistic to think that the state of Texas by
itself can make a university Tier One – the
communities and supporters must step forward, too, and the suggested approach allows flexibility in how that might be accomplished.
so not only does he NOT make the statement that you claim he made he specifically states that Texas Tech has a research infrastructure already in place and strong community support and that community support will be critical in helping a university advance and that each of the seven (at that time) emerging research universities has a strong foundation
also the article was very dated because it was before Texas State was an emerging research university and before UH and Texas Tech had qualified for NRUF funding while UTD has yet to do the same (but most likely will 2 or 3 years from now
and PS the only mention of "Carnegie" in the entire article was Carnegie Mellon University used as a comparison
next you tried to use a Texas Tech document where they are openly and honestly discussing the strengths and weaknesses of their brand (something that UH is loath to do in favor of made up "tier 1 billboard campaigns and the misuse of Carnegie Classifications as "rankings" even going so far as to call them "classifications" in one sentence and then saying that CLASSIFICATION implies a RANK when it does not and the Carnegie Foundation clearly time and again has stated they do not rank universities and their classifications are not rankings.......unless you are a billboard university that relies on half truths and lies and hyperbole to promote yourself
so again you have yet to provide proof of any UT president or any UT System president or official stating that Texas Tech will not be classified as RU/VH at any time in the future or in the near future and all your attempts to crawdad back from or to slither away from that claim have failed and shown you to be a fool set on hyperbole and lies
next you made the claim that Texas Tech would struggle to attract nationally prominent researchers to Lubbock
then you were provided with a link showing that just recently in a targeted effort to do just that Texas Tech had hired two national academy members at one time and one of them was hired away from Billboard U/Hyperbole U down there in Houston
perhaps you need t chance the name of UH to HU Hyperbole U or UH University of Hyperbole
and again I know that currently UH has more national academy members than Texas Tech.....but that was not your original claim the original claim (your BS hyperbole) was that Texas Tech would struggle to attract any.....when the are attracting them now including away from UH
so there is two claims you have tried to get across and failed at spectacularly because unlike a billboard filled with false "tier 1" claims internet message forums actually others to respond back to your unsupported and easily disproved claims and hyperbole
and here is yet another article from 2013 where Texas Tech again in a targeted campaign to attract national academy members has hired yet a 3rd one in 2013
http://www.dailytoreador.com/news/tech-w...0f31a.html
so again Texas Tech is making an effort to attract national academy members and that effort has resulted in hiring 3 of them ina very short period of time to go with the one they already had and one of them even left the vaunted fake "tier 1" Hyperbole U in Houston to come to Texas Tech
Also Texas Tech is making an effort not to just hire them away from other places, but to try and have more of their won current faculty be included in the academies because they feel that is even more valuable than simply hiring them away
and again there was not a claim made by you that UH has more of the members that would have actually been true (which would be contrary to most or all of the hyperbole you have attempted to present) the claim was that Texas Tech would struggle to attract them at all
and here we can see even in the beginnings of an effort to do just that Texas Tech has been very successful and even attracted one from billboard false claim hyperbole U
so you have failed in amazing fashion to support your claims and statements even when you tried to deflect from them of obfuscate them with other claims when you realized that no one was buying your BS
again dignity.....GET SOME and stop making your fan base look like fools and stop playing into the image of fake "tier 1" U with a couple of cool billboards and a webpage to tout your own made up "accomplishments" of fake "tier 1" and at least try and support the actual claims you make or have a clue what you are talking about least you get shot down over and over and over again.....which would be embarrassing to anyone with an ounce of intellect or self respect
