I've said it before and I'll say it again: I HATE a potential 1st round game against UD. Bad matchup for the Cats. UC could never keep up with UD's ability to score.

Dayton is a much better defensive team than offensive team. Kenpom has them 82 in adjust offense (and 31 in adjusted defense). Xavier and SMU are both significantly better offensive teams than Dayton and UC made it pretty difficult on both.

RE: 2/19/15 --- Dance Card, Rpi, Kenpom, Bpi
Wow, what a depressing game X was. I knew they lost when Clark missed the and one. I just knew before it even happened X would hit that three. And then it happened! Can't believe that kid went 5-5. It was a perfect shot while well guarded too. That put the score and clock in X's favor for the final minute. And when Cobb side stepped his defender, I could also see he would take and miss that 3. Before he actually did it. Were they premonitions? Or just watching to many Cincy games over the years? Who knows?
Anyway, I stepped away from anything hoops related at all since that game ended. Didn't even check scores or Cincy's next game time until just now. I wish I were confident they wouldn't lose one of their last 3 scrub games, but I'm not. The Tourney was a wrap until Tulane, and now they need to nearly run the table regular season. With no bad conf tourney losses after.
How depressing.

So many teams pull shots out of ther arses at the end of Cincy's games and even when Cincy has the perfect look at the end like Cobb did, you just know it's not gonna go.

folks I don't care if we play UD in the first round with UK waiting in the second round...I will just be happy to get there this year. It keeps the string alive and buys us time to come back next year, string in tact and maybe we do some damage next year.
I don't care if we get to the ncaa and lose by 15 in the first round either....again, just getting there, at this point, is a win in my book. IF we happen to win A game, it's icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

Agree. There is nothing like experience playing in the NCAA tourney. Plus you never know, anything can happen (Especially with the power of the bag). Great pub for the team and recruiting to keep the string going at 5. Its kind of amazing how few teams there are that would be able to boast 5 straight NCAAs.

^ hahaha
I make no bag claims...i whipped this out and we still lost to Tulane. I'm keeping it on though, not because I think it's a charm (like the football one) but because it's how I feel as of right now.

RE: 2/19/15 --- Dance Card, Rpi, Kenpom, Bpi
Doesn't matter what their projected tourney seed, RPI, BPI, Kenpom is at this point. To me, tonight's game is the last stand. Cats have lost three in a row and 0-2 since Coach Davis proclaimed "we're fighting for our lives." Tonight they play the bottom feeders of the AAC on the road and there is no "pass" for a close loss to Houston (1-12, 9-16). If they do, then I believe this team has officially packed it in and it's NIT bound when looking at the remaining schedule. Heck, even a win does not guarantee anything but some breathing room and a stop to the bleeding. I'll gladly take that under the present circumstances.

Look for that Chicken guy to go off today. We could not defend him very well...even last year in limited duty we struggled with him for some reason. I may go to Perfect North and just skip the aggravation. Win or lose, this team has a way of making me feel worse than I would feel if I didn't watch.

Crazy that Dance Card has us at 100% in as of now. That's pretty nice to see, although I think that aligns with the majority of bracketologies out there.

I can't give you fine folks an objective reason why, but my gut feelling is that the Man (ESPN, CBS, sports media) would like to see UC in the tourney. So, unless we **** the bed (i.e. lose 2 or more of our remaining games and/or first round exit from AAC tourney), I think we're in. Maybe it's the Mick Cronin story. CBS loves that human interest angle.

They'll deny it, but I absolutely think that would have some pull for them. Can you imagine how many times that story would be told if the cats played cinderella this year.

It definitely helped UC's chances the last time they lost their coach and ended the season more than deserving of a bid, especially given some of the other teams that made the tournament.

AK's year (23 wins 8-7 in the BE) they were sent to the NIT I believe on a prayer of a shot by McNamara of Syracuse…that game was pretty much an elimination game. Cuse got in and UC got sent to the NIT.

There were multiple teams that made the NCAA Tournament with worse resumes that year. Punched a door or wall, can't remember. Beyond pissed.

I knew that was coming when they layed the huge egg at GT before the head of the committee.
After the fact he said the McNamarra game made no difference.

I think I had UC as a 9 seed because of the Kirkland injury. If you looked at the overall resume they compared pretty favorably to the 7 seeds (I dropped them two lines because of injury). Committee somehow didn't have them in the field. That year, Air Force and Utah State both made it, they are still the two worst at large teams by overall body of work. Absolutely ridiculous that UC wasn't in.

Not getting in that year was a travesty. But, the difference is that Huggs getting fired was not a "feel-good" story, like persevering under an assistant while your head coach recovers from a life-threatening condition. We were the "bad guys" back then.
