Yes...when u r down 1 and you pump faked your defender off his feet. Creating an open lane in a game you have successfully attacked the rim all night. He could have drove and shot, drove and dished, drove and got fouled etc etc etc

wouldn't you think you would practice end of games situations so they would become 2nd nature, just a thought. you could be ready for all situations, seems when you call timeout it benefits the defense more than the offense.

That's what Bob Knight would say.

I agree. I get really tired of people talking about how many points they score rather than efficiency. Our defense is so tough we probably lead the country in possessions where the opponent shoots with less than 5 seconds.

I thought they played good offense last night especially in the second half with over 60% fg and over 40% fg. 45% overall with only 6 turnovers? I'll sign up for that EVERY game.

Defense lost the game in the first half. I don't care what Davis was shooting coming in. Our defense was so bad and allowed their shooters to build confidence.

My one concern on offense is Troy. 35 min and only 5 shots is unacceptable. Johnson had 4 shots in 20 fewer minutes. You can say all you want about taking what the defense gives you but good players make things happen like he did vs UCONN.

Small quick guards that get up in Troy's grill often seem to make him quit wanting the ball. When he hits that mode he just gives up working away from the ball and goes full on spectator. Not his fault. He is a 6'4" combo playing PG.

He is young. Perhaps he develops that desire to take the game over. I have my doubts.

Except his best game of the year came against Boatright...

Im not disagreeing with you, just pointing out he's capable.

And a guy shooting 18% from 3 in conference play goes 5-5. I thought uc played a really good game and were the better team. if uc protects the ball like that they'll win most games. sucks that x seems to always find a way against them in close games.

Agree that Xavier shot lights out-- which they always do against us.

That being said, I don't agree with the comments that we played a good game and were the better team. Just like most the last nine years, this UC team is limited offensively and does not have great basketball IQ.

UC only turned it over 6 times, they dominated points in the paint, they shot 46% from the floor, they forced X into 15 turnovers and generally made it hard for a really good offense that scores at a high rate inside the 3 point line to do anything inside the 3 point line. I'd say they played well.

They lost because a team that has shot under 30% from three all year hit 60% of its 3s. It sucks, but if UC plays like that they could easily win out through the conference tournament.

Mark. You are the voice of reason.

I'd add that I do think the loss of our head coach is having a significant effect on the season.

I found myself wondering this same thing today. While no one really knows what the effects amount to, it is hard to argue that there are little to no effects from losing your HC mid-season.
