Nothing wrong with one private school in each division. Both big city schools. The BC vs UConn civil war would turn into a instant classic and money maker for the conference. Getting BU gets you the Boston research connection BC doesn't get. It also makes hockey the best of the best.
Early 2020s:
Kansas, Mizzou in the west would bring a blue blood basketball program for more network riches and a top 25 quality football program. The west needed one more quality program to hang with Neb, Wisc and Iowa. Just move one of the Indiana schools back east. That would be one hell of a overall conference. Get crazy for 20 and take Cuse and UVa. My god call the cops. Every sport this league would be ncaa championship competitive that it fields.

IF BC doesn't care about BC vs Connecticut, why would the rest of the conference?

I like the big 10 inviting all 6 IVY league hockey school's to join Big 10 hockey league. Line up would be:
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth
UM, MSU, PSU, OSU, WIS, MIN

The B1G needs to do something to strengthen its hockey!! The Ivy's would dominate!

UCONN has won 15 National Championships since 1999:
4 in Men's Basketball
8 in Women's Basketball
1 in Men's Soccer
2 in Women's Field Hockey
Any conference that takes them would basically be adding athletic accolades on a yearly basis. Unfortunately, when it comes to trophies and conference realignment, the only ones that matter are football-related (if any at all). So much for " College Athletics"...

Yes, we are truly amazing.
But we've been waiting by the phone for a while and it's not ringing.

if the B1G takes anyone from the ACC, it won't be BC.
Duke, UVA and UNC are the top targets, with UNC's ethics issues ruling them out.
If the conference eventually expands, look for it to be something like Texas, OU, Duke, UVA.

Championships in soccer and field hockey do not move the nettle. It is not fair, but that is how the system operates. Based on basketball alone, UCONN should be in a P5 conference, even if the football has been weak sauce.

The best move for the B1G approaching its new TV deal would be to add KU and Mizzou -
Top tier basketball, Top 25 football (MU probably wins their division regularly as in the SEC) -
a nice rivalry twice a year in basketball and once a year in football
Renewal of games for both schools with Nebraska

I think the Big 10 would like to bookend their divisions with Kansas and Virginia...
Maybe they'll wait till both are available?

You can also add that UConn went from being a middle-of-the-pack FCS team circa 1995 to a Big East shared and a Big East outright title within 15 years in football. Not something to take lightly. Being in a "P6" league (granted, the weakest most years) they still managed to play in bowl games 5 times from 2004-2010. Since UConn joined the Big East in football, they had a winning record against Syracuse (who never won an outright conference title during that time) and a .500 record against Rutgers (who also never won an outright conference title during that time).
But as much as UConn would fit in a P5 conference and help the conference, UConn still would benefit more from that relationship than the conference would...

Illnois/Mizzou is a great rivalry too.. however, I don't see the incentive for Missouri to leave the SEC, especially since they were "gifted" being in the weaker division (which it will remain as long as Saban, Miles and Auburn are all in the West).

Illinois and Mizzou have played 6 times in the last 20 years, and only 24 times in their long histories. Not that big a rivalry.

I could see the Big 10, adding Connecticut and Boston College to get to 16.
I also can see the ACC, replacing Boston College with Cincinnati.

I'm sure you could. Doesn't mean there is a chance in hell of it happening of course.
