that's f*cking awesome. i love the crosstown shootout. belittle x all you want but it's a great thing to have the opportunity to have this game. not every city has something this unique. whether you like it or not, x is always a worthy opponent. for one night, the city is glued to basketball. and i love the city

oh and x wins by 11

Found this string of emails on Lance McAlister's twitter page. In a recent interview with Mick, Mick talked about the behavior of XU fans and how they threw paint on Hep and President Williams. The XU fans are acting like it is something that Mick just made up.

@LanceMcAlister do you find it odd that this is the first time we would have heard about the prez of UC getting hit with a paintball at X??

@LanceMcAlister I've never ever heard of that happening. Ever. #madeup

@LanceMcAlister yes, and that is the first time mick(Brian Williams )Cronin has ever mentioned this story

I've heard that story from multiple sources inside UC and it's definitely true. Sometimes you just don't have to throw every last detail into the media because, despite being true, it can make you look like you're 05-stirthepot when you're actually telling the truth. Stuff like this is why Mick originally did not want to put the games back on campus at any cost.

Funny how they suddenly forget about common knowledge that was all over the news. Paint thrown at UC fans, Hep, coaches wives and Prez Williams. Broken cell phones, F bombs dropped all over. It was despicable and mentioned multiple times in the news. Guess Eggs-avier fans are in denial again.

It is really being contended that blue paint wasn't thrown at the game? Really?

This isn't the first time Mick has made this comment publicly. X fans were douchbags that day, anyone who denies that is delusional.

I have stayed away from their board all year and continue that today.

I really hope UC wins tonight and they can if they play like they are capable of.

Conduct from Xavier fans and the way the Xavier players handled the post game were the real issues from the incident. There are always going to be fights, punches, and other bad acts in sports but other teams and institutions usually do a good job of handling the crowd control side of things. That is why some people on the UC side didn't want to play at Cintas.

I expect the UC's crowd to bring the energy as long as the Cats get off to a solid start. Do that and UC should win be able to win this game by 6 to 10 points. My biggest concern is that our home crowd will turn on UC if things are not looking good early. This is a game that the Cats should win, oddly I am more concerned with the road game at last place Houston.

Mick told this story on his show last night. He is not looking forward to going there next year.

little school with the ugly chicks-65

I am out of here, if you get down by section 112, stop in and say hi, I'll be the guy with UC gear on and please drink one for me.04-cheers

I can't help myself and I browsed the X message boards and they have an 83 page I hate Mick Cronin thread. They're still obsessed with UC and their hatred is bordering on insanity. I hope we beat the gangstas and do they have 2 players in jail for murder?

In 14 BE games they are shooting 29.6% from 3pt range, which is good for 308th in the country. We are very good at defending the 3, holding teams to around 31% shooting. I'm thinking 10-22 for X tonight.

XU-68
UC-61

Clockwork... 10-17 from 3.

Dee Davis matched his 3pt output of the last 11 games (5-31, 16%).

Keep the crowd in it, hopefully there won't be too much blue in the stands, and keep the pressure on X. Sadly this has also given us some of the most heart-wrenching moments for the Bearcat faithful. Something about this game always seems to bring out the best in X. I don't feel like we've ever had that big moment, a buzzer beater or a big comeback to win a Crosstown Shootout (correct me if I'm wrong).

Heck even after watching this to pump me up I realized how long it's been since UC has had a huge moment like that. I guess the last one would be SK draining UConn in Storrs a few years ago. Let's make some magic tonight for the good guys!

Since the 90 season, I don't think any of UC's wins have been by less than 10 points. Maybe once by 9. Xavier on the other hand has won 6 games by 2 points, another game in double OT by 4 and another by 5 I believe. So basically they have won a ton of close games in the series recently. We haven't won any.

Another close loss to those clowns. Funny how the tables have turned since the Huggins era. Now Xavier is the bully and UC is little brother.

Yesterday was pretty much an awful experience all around IMO. Finding out about the Big O statue being desecrated, the classless XU fans up in the corner a couple sections over from me booing and chanting "Let's go X" all throughout the UC alma mater, X draining 3 after 3 and putting the game away in the first half more or less. Add to that a walk to the car in bitter cold as I heard XU fans whooping it up as they left the arena chanting "This is our town!" I experienced new levels of loathing and disdain for that school I haven't felt before, and that's including the brawl (I wasn't there in person to experience it).

Honestly, I'm sick of losing to XU, especially in close games. But other than their extremely classless fans, what can you really gripe about other than the fact that they absolutely OWN UC these days? It should NEVER be this way and now we're looking at the NIT unless they really get it together quickly. They MUST win every game left in the regular season and at least 1 or 2 games in the AAC tourney to feel comfortable about their chances.

Someone mentioned in the realignment thread how it's getting old feeling like we're right on the cusp of breaking through in football and basketball, needing a call up to the big leagues and the feeling that things could be slipping away without that P5 invite. I will always support the Bearcats no matter what, that's never in doubt, I just want to see this program and this school take that next step. I'm hopeful that it will happen soon but it sure feels lonely stuck somewhere in between the P5 promised land and the G5 wasteland.

Rant over. Go Bearcats!
