Very wealthy family. Any way to parlay that into athletic support (or greater athletic support as the case may be)? Some of y'all would have to cut back on the Jersey bashing though.

Bruce and Lois Forbes are already very generous in general to JMU, and to athletics and the arts in particular. Lois sits on the BOV. They made a gift valued at $5 million to name the PAC, the largest single gift to JMU (to date). Doubt you're going to see their level of contributions increase as they are already very generous.

I believe his son is the current head men's golf coach. Yeah... They're already giving to athletics.

Wow. I knew they have a family history at Princeton but great to see a connection with JMU as well. Thanks for the background.

Yes, The Forbes are very big supporters of JMU Athletics, particularly the Men's golf program. (As noted earlier, Jeff Forbes is their son). They most recently donated a beautiful Sprinter van to the team for travel to tournaments. Mr. and Mrs Forbes are very generous with their time and money towards JMU.

RE: OT: What's the story behind the "Forbes" Center for the Performing Arts?
Back when I was at JMU, I heard that Forbes owned a lot of the apartments complexes around JMU. I figured it was time to figure out if there was any truth to it and searched around the ol interweb. I found nothing about apartment complexes but I learned he was the owner of the Flip'N'Burgers. For like 5 months it was the best place to get a burger, fries and shake for like $4. I'm guessing it had something to do with it not lasting very long.
