Wow, that's a monster stat line!

His teams 3 point D looks like ours!

His interior defense is top notch though.

I'll be interested to see how that translates. He sells out an awful lot. He's just so much more athletic and longer, it's easy to still get a hand on it. Certainly was some nice blocks mixed in there. He was trailing several times getting up the floor too.

I'm not worried about it too much. I think his game is going to translate really nice. He's been blocking shots at a high rate all season. He also plays in one of the most competitive conferences in NC High School basketball. A lot to like about his video IMO.

RE: Recruit Updates
I think Imaje's ability to come in and contribute next year will determine whether we move off of the conference floor. Of course, I said that about Kai and if anyone would have told me what his stats would be, I would have said there is absolutely no way we finish last.

We're going to need a juco or grad transfer big. No way we compete without one, IMO.

Correct. I think most people would agree with you on that.

Crazy, right? Kai with his stats, Devontae with his stats, and Gadsden with his 3point %...and last place??

It's mind boggling with the talent on this team and they finished 10th! But, this is a conversation for another thread!

Not sure that is a legit statement. It's a 2A school with Kinston and West Craven being the only real competition. Also, he should be leading the conference in PPG, boards, blocks, double double's and he isn't. He is only leading in blocks.

They did beat 21-7 Westover by 10. Westover finished 1st in a pretty solid 3A/4A Patriot Conference.

Dodd had 14 points, 8 RB and 11 blocks. Against a 4A school.

We actually had a similar situation in 03-04 with Brownell. Had quite a few games that we just could not finish. The next year we won those same type of games. With four starters returning, along with returning bench support, we just may be in position to pull it off again. We have two solid looking recruits coming in. We could use a few more pieces, like another combo guard and muli threat wing.
Call me a dreamer, but we are in a position that little else can be changed for next season. So I will stay encouraged that it will come together with what we have. Even though we lose Cacok, we have good pieces coming together.

Are you banking on CB to make some changes in his staff? With this staff, and this D philosophy i don't see how we make the next step. just my opinion. I do agree with you i like the pieces we have, talent is there!

RE: Recruit Updates
It's always nice to have a good shot blocker or 2 so maybe they will look to add. Ball pressure and rim protection are big so I hope that's the direction. If you can get a slasher, someone that can potentially get their shot and defend, that would be the ticket. Time will tell. I do like many of our pieces too.

I'm old, but I can still remember some things. There was rumbling about Brownell not getting the job done until it turned around the next year. I have no clue if CB can do the same. But I have been close enough to know that there were players this year that were unable to defend like CB wanted. We only played the zone press but so much because only one unit could pull it off properly. I also now understand that conditioning will be improved on. As 75 has brought to our attention, we looked to be giving out of gas down the stretch in games. I got this from listening to CB talk off the record. And with the contract he is under, I see no other option but to support and encourage what CB plans to implement to turn what I believe is a talented team around.

Everyone wants this turned around. Maybe everything will get better next year. Have to admit i'm not confident it will though.

Imajae Dodd had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 blocks in Greene Central's 90-57 win over Hertford County last night, advancing to the Regional Final. They will play Farmville Central on Saturday at ECU.

He's really stepped his game up and been their leader throughout this playoff run. Farmville Central swept Greene Central this season 3-0 but they were competitive games. If he can lead GCHS to the upset victory, his legend will continue to grow. Dodd called himself the best player in the state about a month ago (he's ranked 17th) and he's been on an absolute tear ever since. It's hard not to like everything about this kid.

Farmville Central is 30-0. Like Gary said, they've beaten Greene Central three times. By 20 the first time, by 8 the second time and then in OT. Maybe GC is figuring out how to beat Farmville. But it will be a tough job to accomplish.
