I remember watching that at the Gund.

I have unsuccessfully tried to burn the images of that game from my brain.

oh yeah I was there too! Amazing game! I guess we'll always have differing perspectives on it! :-)

and as amazing as that feeling was for Ohio fans when the ball went in the basket at the buzzer, it was almost as exhilarating a feeling a few months later when we beat Pitt in OT in Coach Solich's first home game as the Bobcat head coach! 02-13-banana

Ohio: 3
Miami: 4
CMU: 5

Akron: 9
Toledo: 10

RE: Droughts
Toledo's been arguably the second best football team over the last 5 seasons. But when you play in a division format it's tough goins when the team who has won 3/5 and has been to all 5 (NIU) is in your division.
Non division format Toledo would have been in the MAC championship in 2010, 2011, and 2014.

Basketball eliminates the divisions having real meaning so no excuse there. We have a decent shot this year if we can grab some byes in our tourney. Best BPI, and second best RPI in the conference.

Ask and you shall receive. The two-sport "MAC Misery Index:"

Akron: 10 (9 full seasons since MAC FB title + 1 full season since NCAA BB bid)
Miami: 11 (4 full FB seasons + 7 full BB seasons)
CMU: 16 (5 full FB seasons + 11 full BB seasons)
NIU: 18 (0 as defending FB champion + 18 full BB seasons)
BUF: 21 (6 full FB seasons + 15 full BB seasons since joining MAC)
WMU: 26 (26 full FB seasons + 0 as defending BB champion)
BSU: 32 (18 full FB seasons + 14 full BB seasons)
EMU: 43 (27 full FB seasons + 16 full BB seasons)
Toledo: 44 (10 full FB seasons + 34 full BB seasons)
BG: 47 (1 full FB seasons + 46 full BB seasons)
KSU: 48 (42 full FB seasons + 6 full BB seasons)
Ohio: 48 (46 full FB seasons + 2 full BB seasons)

Can UB get a recount!

I get that the point of the misery index is to measure the droughts of each MAC school, but using seasons since last championship as the sole indicator of misery may skew the results a bit in measuring how miserable each fan base is or isn't. Just looking at these results alone, an outsider may think Miami fans are pretty happy where we're at while OU fans would be suffering from crippling depression. While OU football is still going through their football drought, you'd be hard pressed to find a fan who would trade the past ten years of Bobcat football and basketball with the past ten years of Miami. One fluke season doesn't make me any less miserable now after sitting through three years of Treadwell and growing pains under Martin. If I get the time, I may come up with my own misery index that puts more weight on recent performance.

It also doesn't take into account heartbreak losses, which can hurt more than a game where you were just plain outplayed.
