Big trouble now.
The foul was not on the floater but afterwards. In reality not a foul at all, I was right in front of it. The refs are too tight today
I know, that's my point. Ray backed off the layup because he knew he had 4 fouls, but then commits a dumb over the back.
Sorry I reallized that was your point only after I posted.
No worries. Such a frustrating game. It's like we took a huge step back after beating Akron.
Big worries akron isnt really that good and we were favored by 1.

Akron is good. UB is good.
Win one (Akron); lose one (UB).
On to NIU which lost in OT to CMU in Mt. P.

Definitely frustrating. Nothing was falling for EMU. Buffallo was playing like a good team that had just lost 3 in a row and were INSISTING on a win. And touchy refs on top of that.
Yeesh, EMU just can't get on a roll.

In some ways, I was expecting a Buffalo win given the intangibles. Most of which they wanted vengeance for EMU negating their hard earned top 4 seeding last year.
I'd like to think NIU is a should win game. But reality is, as the MAC season has been going for EMU, this will be another tough one.
EMU some how needs to find a way to pull off a 4-1 record to end this season. At least to save some dignity by avoiding a losing season. But moreso to get that first round home game and hope to make a tourney run. Don't want the rebuilding momentum to reverse course.
Miami and EMU are now tied for the 8/9 seed and Miami holds the tie-breaker.

RE: Game Week: UB and @NIU
man, that game was a bummer. for the first 25 minutes i was thinking that even though EMU was off, it wasn't hopeless. they were still playing hard out there. and then, like we've seen 5-6 times during the MAC season, the wheels fell off for 10 minutes. that stretch was brutal.
also, hats off to Buffalo. that was the first time i've seen them play this season, and i have no idea how the team i saw tonight has lost 6 games in the MAC. Moss is a beast with great hands (his block on that Bond dunk was ridiculous), and Shannon Evans is one of the best guards in the MAC. they have a chance to win the MAC tourney this year, and i really like their chances to win it next year if they can get some additional depth.

How does Miami hold the tie-breaker?
We split the 2-game series this season.

Dear Friends,
I was unable to listen to the game last night, but checking the box score, how does Buffalo get 44 attempts at the charity stripe, and Eastern gets 17? I'll be the first to agree that foul shots don't have to be equal, but almost 30 shot difference? Were we really fouling that much? To me, that's the ball game in a nut shell. Take away half of what they made and it's a whole different ball game.

the difference in foul shots was 80% because Buffalo deserved more foul shots, and 20% because Hurley is really good at working the refs. they were able to pass the ball inside, which results in panicky, collapsing defenders. when we drove, it was 1-on-3 and the defense knew what was coming, so they were better prepared to rebound properly. of course, there were some atrocious calls on Hunter, the last Ray Lee foul and others that i don't remember, but Buffalo deserved to be at the line more.
as for the 'game in a nut shell', i think you also have to look at three point shooting and rebounding, both of which favored Buffalo by a lot. i think the game in a nut shell is that Buffalo played much, much better than EMU last night.

Agree that Hurley had the officials' ear, esp. Spence, when he worked them incredibly during the 1st half and bingo the calls really start to go UB's way...
Yesterday there wasn't a 'home court' advantage, etc. but Hurley turning the officials into an advantage.
Personally, I hate the s*it, but it is what it is...
When Hurley retires as a hoops coach he can come to D.C. and be a lobbyist. Probably a pretty good one too.

RE: Game Week: UB and @NIU
Dear Friends,
After taking a second look at the box score, something is not right. It has Eastern making eight 3-pointers. That's 24 points. Add to that twenty three 2-pointers, for 46 points. Now I'm no great mathematician, but those two totals add to 70 points, and that is not what Eastern has as total for the game. That doesn't include the foul shots either. Maybe someone can see what I am not?

We made 23 field goals total. The 3-pointers are included in there.

At looking at a comparison between our rankings in 15 different areas we should be a shoe in for a win at niu, http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketb...gan-eagles but the people that make this listing have slightly more confidence in a win by niu. How much hasn't been posted yet.
