Auburn hasn't been too great recently. I believe they got a new coach last year.... Troy beat them 11-4 a couple years ago.

Not saying that a win over auburn this year won't turn out to be great. But doesn't always mean a quality win.

Depends. If Auburn turns out to be even average in SEC play, it'll be a nice RPI win. What you don't want is a scenario that happened to ASU a couple years ago. We scheduled 6 games against SEC teams as a way to improve our RPI. three games ended up against the worst teams in the league with 200 plus RPI's. Ended up hurting us more than helping us.

I think that was the year that the Cajuns beat us 40-3 over a 3 game series. Bad memories.

He's just trying to piss in our Corn Flakes. We have beaten Auburn 2/3 of the times we've played them. Troy hasn't (Troy is 17-37 all-time against Auburn). Despite Troy beating Auburn 11-2 a couple years ago, they lost to Auburn 26-6 in 2009. Should we read into that? Of course not. By the way, Auburn has been a consistently decent squad. Auburn RPI over last 10 years: 73, 43, 32, 40, 18, 31, 63, 43, 58, 23.

Which proves my point about how even an average SEC team can help the RPI. Some of those teams were far from great, many struggled to finish top 8 in the SEC, but they all had Top 100 RPI's.

Yeah, Auburn could bomb out and turn into a bad team. But the likelihood is they'll be at least SEC average, and represent a good RPI win for the Jags.

Its the SBC's most impressive OOC win to date...that's for sure.

And anytime you can beat an SEC team it is a good win, no matter who it is. Whenever it is an in-state SEC team it is even sweeter. Please don't hold Atlanta Trojans viewed against the rest of the Trojan fan base (any of his views, haha). If Troy would have beaten Auburn tonight he would've been on hear beating his chest louder than anyone.
Congrats South. I wish we had a shot at them this year.

I'm not saying it's not a good win...what I'm saying is Auburn isn't tbe sec power in baseball it is in football. And is likely good for any SBC teams RPI.

It's kinda like how stAte beat Miss state in basketball, doesn't mean you are gonna run over everyone in the SBC.

I'm just stating Auburn hasn't been that great in baseball recently. The top 3 or 4 in the SBC could beat Auburn most of the time.

Sarcasm on

Yeah, a top-75 RPI every year over the last 10 years is terrible! Only 7 top-50 RPI finishes in the last 10 years is putrid.

Sarcasm off

In all likelihood this will end up being a good win. It could be a great win, but it shouldn't be less than a good win.

This is also Auburns HCs first year.

Also, their sec schedule has a good bit to do with a higher RPI. They last made the NCAA in 2010. Last won the SEC was 1978.

Our record against Auburn also includes when Troy was D2...not a fair compairison since USA has been D1 during that time.

Which means nothing. Ultimately what matters the most is where their RPI winds up. If its Top 50, it's going to be a quality win for USA come tourney time. If it's top 100, it's not as great, but it's still a nice RPI boost.

No one's going to go. "Wait, Auburn didnt make the NCAA Tourney, that means they suck."

It's his second season at Auburn after 9 seasons at Oklahoma. Not sure what point you're trying to make.

And just a couple days ago you bragged about your D2 record and I said it wasn't comparable to DI and you disagreed. Now it bolsters your crazy argument you're trying to make so now you use it... Lol

Troy was good in D2 against other D2 talent. Still
Ment we had a good program. Having a winning program transferred into our D1 days. That's what I was getting at when I was talking to you.

Now if Troy was D2 and played nothing but D1 programs it wouldn't be fair and would most likely leave Troy with a losing record every season.

AState's game @ Ole Miss rescheduled for next Tuesday at 3pm. Our game against SEMO that was scheduled for that day has been moved to the next day at home.

We only have two games this weekend, so odds are that we'll throw our normal Sunday guy on Tuesday at Ole Miss.

Kats have been pretty good in baseball in recent years. Been to 3 straight regionals, 6 of last 8, and were a controversial call in the 21st inning away from hosting a super regional last year. Shouldn't sleep on them.

I heard that makes 5 in a row vs SWT for the Kats, btw.

Cajuns take out NwState 7-3. Fourth straight game with eleven hits. Cajuns pitching is young needs to mature fast. Stonyboork coming to town, McNeese mid week and then a trip to play Bama.

The Cajuns actually had 12 hits in game 1 against UTSA. I'm not sure if you meant at least 11 hits.

Joe Robbins seems to be the real deal when it comes to hitting.

Figured I would dig this up.. Since losing 7-4 to USA, Auburn has won 7 straight, including wins over Georgia Tech and 10th ranked Oklahoma State.
