RE: Cue the Imperial March
The real story around here won't be so much the weather, but the bitter cold immediately after. We're going to shatter all time record lows and low highs for the date on Wednesday. We're talking below zero in parts of the Carolinas.

In my neck of the woods (north of Greensboro), we are preparing for both. Snow amounts from 4-6 inches with mixture of sleet and record lows on Thursday and Friday morning. Is it Spring yet?

Cold highs and subzero lows set to the tune of frantic meteorologists and busy grocery cashiers.

Well, it's officially been a hard winter here. Snow has been on the ground for well over 24 hours.

It was a bit nipply. We've actually got a good bit the last week and it appears we'll get some more this week.

I'm in the 4-7 inches of snow forecast range with the possibility of higher amounts. Snow has not yet arrived. Getting closer. I wait with anticipation...

It's fun watching you guys get all hyped up over the cold and snow considering where I grew up.

No, I'm not trying to make fun of you for this. I realize you don't have the equipment or "experience" to handle it, and yes, I do realize that I'm the odd one for thinking 180" of snow a year is "normal".

I can relate to what you are saying. I was born and raised in Ohio and moved to North Carolina about 11 years ago. We typically get 1 to 2 "big snows" down here per year. Of course, it is all relative to what you are used to in terms of "big." My wife and I chuckled last night when all the local news could talk about was the impending winter storm. There were actually long lines at gas stations and Lord forbid what the Walmarts and grocery stores were like with folks buying up all of the bread, milk, batteries and related supplies. What gets us in trouble down here more often is freezing rain and sleet that causes havoc with power outages. Fortunately, our area got all snow overnight in the 5-7 inch range. Yes, schools and government agencies all closed today.

NWS whiffed pretty big in Upstate, SC. They called for 9+" and we got maybe 2, and it is already almost all gone.

Weathermen have it made, GTS. It's the only occupation there is where you can be wrong more often than not and still keep working.
