RE: And the Herd takes down WKU...
The job that Dan Dantoni has done this season is simply amazing. You guys have to understand that we are playing with only one starter back from last year and a group of kids that were walk-ons or sitting the bench last year. He sent all the bad attitude kids from last year packing. So we are basically starting over. Also worth mentioning is the we have a freshman point guard and one of our better players (Shawn Smith) has been out with an injury since the early part of the season. Coach Dantoni is a great teacher and a great coach. Very fortunate to have him running our program. We are nowhere near where he wants us to be and there will be many bumps in the road with this team but his impact is being felt and the future for Marshall basketball is bright. All of a sudden we've won 5 of 6.

It's a process. Most schools have to go through it every once in a while. Glad you all can see a little light. As a WKU fan, I want Marshall to be competitive. Makes for exciting games with one of our neighbors.

We have good support for pretty much any team that is even half-ass. The white-out looked decent against the dark green seats there. I'm guessing it looked even better on TV?
This is why I think it is so important to have a strong Marshall basketball team.

Marshall can sell out their arena with a decent team.

When Rolling this is what the Cam Henderson Center can look like:

If you can't beat Rice or Marshall you can't expect to win a NCAA tourney game so it is best we don't make it. The expectations weren't too high this year but now it all comes crashing down after another bad loss.

Way too early to say that in my opinion. The conf tourney decides the champion and losing a game against us while frustrating Im sure shouldn't be looked at as too bad of a loss due to the way MU has been playing the last 6 games. I pointed out MU's progression before the UTEP game as MU went from getting beat early on to hanging for a half, then halfway trhough the 2nd half, then a couple games they just couldn't close to finally working out the bugs and closing out games. The team now is far different from earlier this year.

I felt bad for ruining a 2 bid run for CUSA, but then I remember WKU coming to The Joan in December and screwing up our perfect season.

Feels good, man.

Yeah we haven't improved any over the last few weeks. It's definitely just you guys sucking now.

WKU is now 4-5 on the road so he is correct. We have improved, but we are still a "bad" loss for any team wanting to go to the Big Dance. I am pleasantly surprised by Danny, I know him and is a great person. I must admit, I didn't think he would he would win four games this year. The real key for Danny to be successful, is if he can recruit players.

I said 9-11 games before the season. But I thought 6-7 of those would come in the OOC games. The 2 OOC games that we really screwed up was Penn State and WVU. Both of those games could have and should have been wins. We lost to PSU 73-69 but had a 5 point lead with 1:49 on the clock and lost to WVU 69-66 and alo had a 6 point lead late in the 2nd half.

These kids are starting to understand D'Antoni's system of the Pick'N'Roll. It's really not that hard once you play in the system and get used to it. A player at the top of the key picks a guard off to allow the player with the ball to take the ball down the lane. If the defense all collapse on the ball then you kick the ball out for a 3 point shot. If not then you take the easy lay up. When done correctly its great basketball to watch (Phoenix 2003-2008), if you don't have good shooters, esp 3 point shooters then it looks like a disaster (New York Knicks 2008-12, LA Lakers 2012-14).

We never led in the 2nd half of the Penn State game.

What game am I thinking of. I know we screwed up 2 decent OOC wins and turned them to losses.

Also last night we were hitting our free throws. At one point in the game we was 14-16 on FTs. Ended the game 15-20 or .750. Also WKU never got into the bonus in the 2nd half. With a min to go on the clock Marshall only had 3 team fouls.

Hope you can make it to next year's Marshall vs MT women's game. Last year's was fun at MT 02-13-banana 4,414 for a Saturday evening game against a 3-20 team is really, really good...

I know you are just trash talking, but it is really cool to get that type of fan support every game for women's basketball. Marshall does have a fan base and hopefully they will come out for the team but it takes a lot. Miami ladies are good this year and we do have a big fanbase but no one goes to the games, much to my frustration. MT has a lot of history and a coach invested in the community. I would like nothing more than to see some other CUSA schools get up and make our league a major power in ladies' hoops too, like men (hopefully heading in the direction)
