In any case, a win today over a UT pitcher who was co-MVP at last year's Rice regional would absolutely force them to get some Rice quotes in the story today. Who is likely to be the main guys in the pen today? I thought I heard JP mention T. Tekyl is unavailable this weekend too? I'm not worried even if true because I do agree our pitching depth this year is significant. We will have some very interesting decisions to make regarding the pitching staff when everyone is healthy.
Yes, Trevor T. is out with a sore arm. My guess is the pen today will be Solecitto and Otto again (unless Otto will be held for the Tuesday night start vs. HBU), with Jordan Stephens an outside possibility to get an inning of work. (Note-- he did go down into the pen early in the 1st game yesterday when Blake was struggling.) It's also possible that Rodgers or Dane Myers could see action if we need middle/long relief. Even if Otto was slated to start on Tuesday, one has to think that The OG will go all out today to get the series win (and the RPI boost) vs. UT, and go with all staff vs. HBU if need be. Today is obviously much more important in the scheme of things.

My guess is that for the pen today, Wayne will go back to Solecitto and Otto (unless Otto is held back to start vs. HBU Tuesday evening), with an outside chance that Jordan Stephens could see one inning of action (and he did go down to the pen early in the 1st game yesterday when Blake was struggling). If it's a high scoring affair and we need long/middle relief, I suppose Rodgers or Myers could see action, or we could go back to McCarthy. One would think that The OG will go all out for the series victory (and RPI boost) vs. UT today, and go with all-staff or our 2nd/3rd tier guys on Tuesday if need be.

Having said that I tweeted back (and commented to he and Kendall) that overall assessment was spot on, but seemed a little odd that neither has mentioned the depth and quality of Rice pitching so far against a very talented Texas lineup (and Kendall has been at Reckling for 2 1/2 of the 3 games so far). Kendall posted flattering tweets yesterday about both Clemens and Sawyer (and raved about French on Friday), but no mention of Ditman, Salinas or Williamson. Just seemed odd.
What was the compliment about Clemens? That he has a great future as a batting practice pitcher?

"In his collegiate debut on the mound, sophomore Kacy Clemens was roughed up for eight runs in 3-plus innings on 8 hits and 2 walks. He didn’t record a strikeout. On the plus side for Texas, Clemens had two solid frames after a six-run first because he made the adjustment to pitch backwards, which is how he’s going to get outs. He looks to have the mental fortitude and presence Texas is looking for. Shocking considering who his father is, right? But for now, his fastball doesn’t have a lot of weight to it, and its velocity fluctuated, touching 89 mph at its peak."

No, FBO, I didn't say they complimented Clemens in that article; I said Kendall praised him in a couple of his in-game tweets, and he did the same with Sawyer (before he headed cross town to cover the Coogs), while not making a single mention of Salinas.
