Why is UNC not the favorite. There's a pundit always pushing UNC football's breakout season - been doing it the last 50 years.

Actually I wouldn't change much of that pecking order, although baring an injury Watson late in the year, I can see anyone from Coastal winning the title. If Clemson stumbles, FSU will be right there.

Unless the offense is brought up to at least a mid-level ACC offense you are going to be disappointed. The defense can't continue to carry Tech.

I fully expect the offense to finish in the top 65 this year (96th last year). I also think you'll see the defense improve from 21st to about 15th or so. VT has brought in a lot of talent the last 2 classes, which should start to really pay off this Fall.

Last year the Hokies were at nearly full strength against Ohio State, and they won. By the Wake Forest game IIRC they were down to their 4th RB, two of the best WRs were out, there were starters injured all over the defense, and the OL was whoever could walk. They got about half of those guys back in time for the bowl game, but they'll all be back for Ohio State - plus another top 25 bunch of freshmen...

If you can gin up offense around the top 50 you should win 11-12 games. I can't recall a team in the ACC that was so unbalanced regarding offense and defense for so long. It seems like you haven't had any offense since Vick's little brother.

But VT ain't winning the conference next year. Just lol at that. With Old Man Beamer at the wheel?

If Petrino gets his type of QB in the system, Watch out for Louisville next year. Todd Grantham did not turn down NFL teams to stay at Louisville and have a sub par year.

3 of the first 6 are Auburn, Clemson & FSU. So if we make it through the first six the Cards should be ok.
