don't forget....they hired junie and doh too....
unlimited resources are pretty cool....money at smwhoo has really never been a problem (lmao)
totally agree with boosting the hoops infrastructure.....
I'm actually surprised more cusa schools aren't realizing this.....
I already know I'm going to miss football moving forward.....however, hoops can be salvaged with that money.....
say what you want about the June Jones hiring, but SMU had not been to a bowl game for 25 years before he was hired and in the 7 seasons he was there he took them to 4 bowl games and was 3-1 in those games with th only loss by 2 points to Army in The Armed Forces Bowl
with the exception of Marshall and Rice no other program in the CUSA has come close to that record and with the exception of Marshall, Rice, USM and LaTech pretty much every program in CUSA would kill for and gladly pay $2,000,000 per season to have that record
here is the CUSA bowls over the last 7 years and or in history
UAB 0-1 (in history)
FAU 2-0 (in history)
FIU 1-1 (in history)
Marshall 4-0 (last 7 years)
MT 1-3 (in history)
ODU 0-0
WKU 1-1 (in history and last 7 years)
LaTech 2-1 (last 7 years)
north Texas state 1-0 (last 7 years) 2-5 (history)
Rice 3-1 (last 7 years)
USM 2-2 (last 7 years)
UTEP 0-2 (last 7 years)
UTSA 0-0
so June Jones at SMU had more bowl wins in his seven seasons than eight of the programs in CUSA have had in their history and more bowl wins in the last 7 seasons than all but two programs Marshall and Rice and he is tied with Rice
so while his last two seasons (the last one especially) were not great SMU should have supported him better after the first couple of seasons and really he should not have let things get as bad as they did.......but those 7 years still far surpassed anything that most CUSA programs have put together in a 7 year span especially recently
