Rockets down 25-9, ugh. Make that 28-9, with 8:17 to play in the first half, timeout Toledo.

Honestly, the game isn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. Absolutely awful half on both ends of the floor.
One bright spot, two of our Freshmen - Kessler and Woody - can put the ball in the hoop from under 5 feet. The rest of the team, not so much.

RE: WBB @ Akron
Inma didn't look like herself at all this game. Almost all her shots were short and she got beat on the defensive end more than usual. She seemed tired. So did Janice.
Akron really killed on the boards.
When they ran the offense and were patient, the Rockets were able to get to the basket with consistency and get short shots and draw fouls. Problem was they didn't do that nearly enough, maybe 1/3 of the possessions. Especially in the first half taking really quick shots and 3s were not falling for anyone today.
Defense was atrocious again. I'm beginning to wonder about the defensive coaching ... I know this is still a really young team and D takes time to gel, but there are fundamental mistakes they are making on nearly every trip down the court. I'm shocked UA didn't score 100 again to be honest. Defense has changed a lot since Griggs left coaching. Maybe just a coincidence in timing due to the players we have now, but I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
Kessler had a nice game, which was a big bright spot. If she can get stronger in the off-season, she may be a real force. Woody had a nice game too. I think they were the 2 best players on the floor for the Rockets today, even though Inma and Jay-Ann scored more, they were the ones hustling and hitting the boards and driving to the hoop. Those two with Jay-Ann are a nice nucleus to build a team around the next three years. I really look forward to seeing Printz and McIntyre with those three ... but that's a ways off. Hopefully they learned something today and can still finish the season strong.

Wow, I new the rebounding was bad, but didn't know how bad till seeing the box score. UA outrebounded the Rockets 49-26. They had as many offensive rebounds as UT did defensive. That's the game right there. Can't get outrebounded by 23 and expect to be in the game.
Also, Rockets were 8-15 from the line.
OK, I'll stop now...

Didn't Akron graduate two of their all-time players last year? Some nice recruiting.
