Well done.

Dog, even VT beat GT. Ouch, Clemson! Bye bye NCAA bid hopes...

Wichita and VCU may be better right now but at it's peak, GT is a much better job than both. It's in a prime recruiting area, in a much better city (I'm sorry but Atlanta is ahead of Wichita and Richmond), the ACC is a much better basketball conference......what more do you need??
But they wouldn't be taking GT at it's peak, they would be taking over a complete rebuild job.

And the ACC might be a better basketball conference but when you are in the bottom tier of the ACC like GT is right now that just means that many more obstacles to overcome.

How bad has GT been? Brad Brownell has never lost to GT while at Clemson. I probably just jinxed tomorrow night, but the point has been made.

So who's to say Marshall wants it easy? He might like the challenge of rebuilding GT. I think Shaka Smart is waiting on one of the following: Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Wisconsin.

If he wanted a challenge he's had ample opportunity. He grew up a South Carolina fan and made them turn away after outlandish demands. He rebuffed NC State at least once, and reportedly twice. He's turned down Nebraska. When he was at Winthrop he had the chance to take a step up to College of Charleston and changed his mind after initially taking the job with the Cougars. Everything I have read (and heard) is he is very content where he is at. He's making good money, has all the support in the world from his admin & fanbase, and is in a conference strong enough to make the tournament on a regular basis.

Coaches make different decisions at different points in their careers. He may get to a point where Wichita has plateaued and there's nothing more for him to do. He grew up in Greenwood, SC which is less than 3 hours from Atlanta and is a much better job than Clemson or USC East.
