I think that's what gsloth is asking (if it says 0.1 seconds, why did the basket lite up?).

That's exactly what I meant. I didn't watch the game, but just going off your screengrabs. I'm pretty certain that's a 0.1, as that doesn't have enough fuzziness where you'd expect a .0 to show.

That said, the light on the backboard (now that they've gone to that technology) is the official marker of a shot clock expiration - not the horn or the clock. So you just gotta figure out if it's still on the fingertips when the light is on.

I would think that it should be fairly easy to keep those 2 pretty close. If anything, I recall in the past where a clock would show 0.0 a split instance before the light goes off. I thought they explained that as being it takes a moment longer to heat up the lamp versus switch on the LED on the clock.

If it's from the pictures I posted (or Owlvision), I couldn't tell any change at all once the clock went below 1.0 or so (probably 2.0). I just could not tell anything from looking at the clocks on the court. (It may help if I put my glasses on, but probably not much).

Ok, but it didn't change any as the shot went in and the team celebrated. I kind of thought the same thing, but I think we're seeing pixelating effects, and, unlike your average CSI show, I'm not good at creating information where it doesn't exist (at least with something that objectively exists outside my own mind, and not including the spoken or written word...i.e. the information is not there in the screen grab and it doesn't make sense to make it up on the fly, like they do on tv shows).

That said, it should be possible to use - say video of a still subject shot at (old) cell phone resolution - and create a hi-resolution still shot by combining multiple frames. I'm not sure if there is software that can do that readily, much less that would work with an Owlvision feed.

RE: Middle Tenn @ Rice MBB
I have watched Max G. at almost all of the home games for the past 3 years and this was the best game I have seen him play. He was nails at the free throw line and played great defense, as well as not turning the ball over. Overall, the interior defense of the Owls and active hands in the lane were the cause of most of the MT turnovers. The rebounding differential was pretty visible for most of the game, in fact, I thought that MT's Reggie Upshaw fouling out with a minute to go in the 2nd overtime was the main reason Rice prevailed at the end. He grabbed 13 boards during the game.

I fully understand what Coach R was talking about when he said he and the staff have been breaking down and retooling Jeremy Jones free throw shot. The two shots he missed from the charity line were pretty stiff/ugly. If that retooling is unsuccessful it will limit Jeremy's utility at the end of a game during close contests. In fact, there were a few times at the end of regulation and during the overtime and where Jeremy flashed to the basket after a screen and his teammates chose not to being the ball inside to him for a shot. I also noticed (for the first time) that Bishop Mency does not always square his body to the basket when he shoots, he has a tendency to turn so his shooting shoulder is aimed towards the rim.

MT was a team that Rice matched up well and the Owls should have won by 10. It was nice to see Nate Pollard get 6 minutes of PT in the first half. Coach R. saw that the team had a good lead during that first 20 minutes. Seth and Andrew were on the bench with 2 fouls each and the match-ups were favorable enough that Nate could get some real time on the court. He even closed out the first half.

What was remarkable about the win was that Seth and Andrew both had 4 fouls and were able to survive 2 OT's without fouling out while still playing pretty good defense. I was concerned that the team would tank when they could not hold the lead at the end of regulation and the first OT. However, they played hard and simply out-gutted their opponent. It was also great to see a second straight solid game from Marcus Jackson, after struggling during the previous few contests.

Make sure you bring your valentines date to game Saturday evening. Nothing says 'I love you' like watching the Owls play hoops at Tudor Fieldhouse with your significant other!

I have to add that his work in driving the lane and either shooting or dishing to the outside seemed to be very good last night, and much improved over the last few games. But, you summarized it very well.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that whatever it is that you have to give up to get her to agree to come to the game is what says really says "I love you". Unless you are luckier than I.
