I know...most posters on here probably don't care about WBB, but...

For the first time in history, the Women's Basketball Committee let it be known who would be the Number 1 Seeds if the season ended today: (1) UCONN, (2) South Carolina, (4) Notre Dame, and...(6) Tennessee. Just about everyone thought (3) Baylor would be one of the four. The selection committee let it be known that while Tennessee has two more losses than Baylor and looked less impressive in their victories, the Lady Vols' body of work and conference SOS is far superior.

Just a coincidence or another message being sent to the Big 12 (OOC scheduling/lack of marquee match-ups/weak round-robin schedule/...)?

My first reaction to this was "why in the world would that committee disclose this before the end of the season?" Didn't they learn anything from the CFP's machinations? Then the article goes on to say they are doing it because the CFP's reveal shows were such a rousing success.

Then it dawned on me. This is an article on ESPN's web site. I'm sure those shows were a big hit for the network. It gave them a new live show every week to fill expensive airtime. Now they are saying the men's selection committee is going to follow suit and start giving preliminary seeding reports. The only one who benefits from this is ESPN. Are they paying the NCAA to do this?
