I about died laughing because at first glance I thought he said, "I played eight years of football in high school".

To Wilkie's point, it will be interesting to see how modern treatments of head injuries prevent development of CTE later in life. It's a big deal in almost every sport, including motorsports. I've even read an article on a study of long distance runners. Some of that evidence is concerning.

Nope, but we can look at the data that is being released (and more that will be released as studies continue) and see that maybe taking even thousands of minor blows to the head isn't good for your health.

Just as there are people that smoke for 60 years without getting cancer, there will be football players with no long term brain damage, but it seems to be becoming increasingly clear that there are long lasting impacts for many people that play the game.

I definitely think we'll see more parents in the future keeping their children from playing the game and that will have an impact on the game.
